Flow gets a website
The much-hyped (and little-used-- it's still in private beta) FTP client Flow has gotten a website, complete with a feature list, and some interesting screencasts about how the app will let you let Flow work with a browser, transfer files (remember that, the only thing FTP clients used to do?), and even edit and preview files on the fly.I have to admit that it all looks pretty nifty (the Dropmarks system sounds cool-- drag a file to a bookmark icon, and it'll send that file out for you, complete with a tiny dialogue), but there's not a lot here that might yet lure me away from just using Cyberduck for free. The editor is probably the biggest draw, but even then, I can't yet see anything here that I can't really accomplish using some combo of TextMate and Transmit.
Still, can't judge a book by its cover, and can't just an editor without actually using it. Flow is still in private beta, with a release upcoming.
Thanks, Sebastiaan!

I'll take a look at this but I don't know why YummyFTP is so overlooked, it's definitely the best FTP client for the Mac.

Cyberduck 2.8b1 is absolutely superb and free as in speech. The release version of 2.8 should be out any day now.

Another pleased YummyFTP user here as well. I even donated to Cyberduck just before I picked up YFTP, but the dual-pane (local & remothe) connection windows, the list/column view and Finder labels (and commands/actions) sold me on YFTP. Every time I think of some setting or actions I want to do, I find it in YFTP somewhere.
Flow looks cool, but I won't even bother demoing without list/column view & dual pane browsing.
I am not the biggest fan of YFTP's interface, but the functionality eliminates any of those concerns.

Dunno, I'm absolutely in love with Coda's UI. The best of Transmit with a good text editor. Very streamlined.

Couldn't agree more with you George (#6). Yummy FTP is simply the fastest of all the FTP software I tried (Cyberduck, Fetch, Captain FTP, Transmit, you name it). The ability to resume any upload/download and the scheduling options are also great. Now if only YFTP interface could be as slick as Flow...

I used to use YummyFTP, and I still use it for quick connects, but, I now use MacFuse (http://code.google.com/p/macfuse/). The great thing about MacFuse is that it mounts the ftp server like a drive, and you can use it just like any other connected drive. Combine MacFuse with MacFusion (http://www.sccs.swarthmore.edu/users/08/mgorbach/MacFusionWeb/) and you don't have to use the command line. Plus, both are free.

Sigh, another texteditor which have to cost dollars for the OSx. Why cant anyone simply make a simple text editor with FTP features for free ? Texteditors are NOT rocket science people. Free editors exists on Linux and Windows. Ive looked all over for a OSx one (with ftp features). Found none.
Sigh.
