
When it comes to Phone support, Apple isn't exactly known for its generous terms. iPod owners can call once within the first 90 days of ownership, for example. So isn't it nice to know that Apple offers two years of complimentary technical support for your iPhone? Of course, it comes with restrictions. You have an active AT&T wireless plan subscription to qualify for support--although Apple doesn't specify which wireless plans qualify. To receive support during those two years, just call 1-800-MY-IPHONE. (That's 1-800-694-7466 if the translate-from-letters-to-numbers thing doesn't appeal to you.)

I'm not one to complain, nor am I one of the people who bash Erica's posts just for the heck of it, but this one seems to be far too brief and lacking any real substance. I understand the iPhone 101 series, but this just seems to be information for the sake of information, and especially something that iPhone owners would already know.

I believe that the iPhone comes with one year of in-store support, and 90 days of phone support. If you purchase the AppleCare for $69 with the iPhone, it will extend both the in-store and phone support to 2 years total (one extra year).
The repairs (in-store or phone) include the option of a $30 loaner while your phone is being worked on.

Isn't that the regular terms for any cell phone? I have verizon, and I have 2 years of phone support and 1 year of repairs, which is without insurance, with insurance, you have 2 years of repair. Thats pretty much how every other phone service works, right?

Apple's typical warranty across all their devices has become about as thin as the rest of the industry - 90 days of 'complementary' phone support, then they start charging. Knowing that the iPhone is treated differently is definitely newsworthy, especially since it's such a unique device and new ground for Apple to be exploring (the mobile phone industry).
The fact of the matter is that Apple's phone support is wildly different on the iPhone than the rest of their product offerings. If it somehow seemed obvious to you that they would arbitrarily decide to provide more robust support for the iPhone, then great. Maybe I should replace Miss Cleo on my speed dial with your number.
It's a very safe bet that most people didn't know this, so we blogged it.

Fortunately, in Europe, every product sold has 2 years of warranty, including Apple products and even if the producer says the product has 1 year warranty. You guys should lobby to force your country to adopt at least this coverage period of 2 years.

Apple Care is one of the most comprehensive and best priced 'extended' warranties in the whole IT industry. If you live in the UK you just know that paying a reasonable price for Apple Care is just so much better than paying through the nose for some other stores extended warranty. Apple Care is not just one call its support....and amazing value at that. Who else offers an additional warranty to be purchased at ANY point in the first 12 months of ownership. To my mind its unsurpassed in the dark world of warranties and should be applauded for being so....
The graph as part of an 'update' (frankly come on do the basic research first) just shows that.....
TUAW please write meaningful and informative posts and don't become like TAB with recycled posts and a very slow update policy...
