The zunePhone
Mark sent us this silly mockup of a zunePhone that his coworker made, complete with the signature commercial music for the iPhone (which is actually called "Perfect Timing (This Morning)" by Orba Squara, available on an iTS near you). What's up with that hand? Did he actually animate it using stills from the real commercials? If so, A for effort, even if it does end up looking a little strange.
The flashing 12:00 makes me laugh (as does what happens to the Polaroid after it's done developing), but otherwise, this phone is pretty much what you'd expect from Microsoft-- a blatant copy, only done messier, tackier, and much, much later. Good times.

I LOL'ed. I'm sure someone will come on bitching about the amount of iPhone posts on TUAW, but that made my day.

THat was actually pretty clever. I wonder if MS s at all interested in a zunePhone. Windows Mobile, while not as flashy as the iPhone UI, is pretty popular and powerful. With the zune MS turned their backs on the unpopular "Plays for Sure" brand. With a zunePhone, they run the risk of hurting the very popular Windows Mobile brand. I just don't see it happening...but I love my iPhone and generally think competition is great. (I also don't hate MS like some other Mac users)...

There are far too many Zune posts on TUAW!
I love the 90's-era SCUMM-engine-esque hand though, nice touch. This was really funny, or I'm low on coffee.

I don't know, this makes look like the iPhone battery doesn't runs out, or the "film doesn't runs out", even though it's 4/8GB of film, eventually it does end =P

That's funny! Reminds me of the iPod Microsoft spoof commercial that came from an internal meeting at MS.

I love what a failure the Zune has become. It took 23 hours to sell out at Woot... selling for HALF its original MSRP.

I love how much Microsoft stuff TUA(pple)W posts.
A couple a months ago,
TUAW gave Vista more press coverage than anyone else, basically.
And the Zune...
We know nobody likes it,
and it's no iPod killer,
but if I wanted to read the same story ("Vista/Zune sucks") over and over again,
I'd read TUW(indows)W.
:(
Apple people tend to be so AppleCult.
Maybe that's why Apple doesn't own the computer industry.
People are scared to become like these people.

whats wrong period(.)? Havent had your M$ humor chip implanted yet?
I am impressed though. Its not every day a microsoft troll wanders in and figures out right away what TUAW stands for. I mean, its not like they have it spelled out at the top of the page...ohh.
Belay that.

kinda cheesey and does not address the real issues: - BSOD and everyday mess with drivers/software,
- malware (not spam - my G5 gets spam like that viagra mail chain all the time)
- security
It would never have rotating dial or flash cube or polaroid prints but the camera app would simply be too buggy to use. and restart phone.

funniest thing is that probably sooner or later will come up with a iphone app with the rotor dialer and everybody will rant on how cool it is... :|

Now that was a funny way to start the day!
Love the old school flash cubes too, and I REALLY miss the old rotary dials, back when phones had real weight to them (you could kill someone by whacking them with a phone handset).
Simply put, very well done people! Thanks for the laugh
