Filed under: Odds and ends, TUAW Business
Why, hello there.
I had my own personal unboxing of the new 24" iMac (yes, it's every wonderful thing you've heard, and more) and sat down to migrate all the info from my old Mac. Just as I was thinking life couldn't get any better, I got an invitation to join the TUAW team. I fainted, but of course made sure to fall sideways so I didn't mar the Mac's beautiful, glossy screen. Now that I have regained consciousness and finished installing all the important apps (the triumvirate -- Firefox, Adium, and Skitch), I'm all set to start blogging. If you get around the Weblogs, Inc. network at all, you may know me from Download Squad and DIY Life. I'm sure I'll have just as much fun here as I do there and, hey, maybe now I can justify getting that iPhone. All in the name of research, right?

Hawkman, my kids use Safari on their Mac. Does that count? ;-)

Lisa, use Camino, it is better. Also, so are you the one they hired after posting that hiring call? I considered applying but wanted to ask Erica Sadun some questions first, and then she didn't show up on #iphone. I do wonder, since you already write for other blogs does this mean the pay is so little you have to take in as many as possible?

Tom, I haven't given Camino a whirl in a while so that's a good idea. If readers want me to, I'll even write something up comparing the two.
Though I'm not involved in the hiring at all I do know that there is/was more than one blogging spot available, but that's really all I know about that. Though there are other reasons why I write for more than one WIN blog, Scott's right, the pay is *very* competitive. :-)

Quicksilver isn't for everyone, but if you can use it, it can be incredibly productive. I love how it can help me look up a specific contact, do calculator stuff, check the dictionary, search through my bookmarks and so on with just a few keys.

Hello, Lisa, welcome to TUAW, I look forward to reading your articles ...
... so I can comment on them.
If you post about a new Apple store, I'll ask you when they're opening one in Timbuktu.
If you post something I saw on Engadget 5 minutes before, then I'll accuse you of being lazy and slow.
If you post a helpful tip you've discovered, I'll claim that everyone already knew that.
If you post something that's quirky, kitschy or weird, I'll make snide remarks about meeting quotas.
If you link to an article that is later discovered to contain an error, then I'll accuse you of failing to research your sources.
And trust me, you don't want to post about the iPhone. Ever.
Oh yeah, I'm just a griefing, trolling, hating TUAW commenter, and it's my job to make your job miserable.
I look forward to working with you.

Hi there Lisa! Welcome!
A female blogger named Lisa posting about Apple...
Now, THAT IS and addition to the TUAW team :-)
Just don't post too much about old Apple computers just because of their name :-)
Greetings from Switzerland

Wow, folks, thanks for the warm welcome!
@ yingyang - Quicksilver, like MailTags, is implied. ;-)
@ VanillaSpice - And if I try lame attempts at humor, I hope you'll remind me that I'm no Kathy Griffin. :)
@ Matteo - Ah, yes. When my mother named me, little did she know it would seal my fate.
