Ringo Starr joins iTunes
You may not be able to buy the Beatles' music as a group from iTunes, but you can buy most of the member's solo stuff. Lennon, McCartney, and now Starr. That's right, Mr. Conductor's music is available on iTunes including Photograph: The Digital Greatest Hits (which is an iTunes Plus album).
One more thing to note about Ringo, other than he has the best name our of anyone in the Beatles, is that he is a Mac user. I was poking around his personal website, and stumbled across his photography section. Those certainly look like Photo Booth pictures to me.
Thanks to everyone who sent this in.

Who wants to predict when George will be up there? I think it'll be cool if it's just another two weeks.

I assume the only reason this addition is newsworthy was to help fill your post quota.

Ringo was actually already on iTunes... but limited. His newer records (90s... Vertical Man, VH1 Storytellers, etc.) were on iTunes, but the old Apple releases weren't.

Zach, are you working on filling up your comment quota, or was that a strange complaint that you are too busy to be bothered with news that doesn't interest you, although you do have enough time to read the article and complain about it?

Joe, I just didn't think anyone other than Marge Simpson gave a hoot about Ringo.

I don't think that these catalogs really work to get what I think to be the core iTunes demographic, being those under 30. The fans of these people are getting to be 50 to 60, so I hope that it works to expand the iTunes base rather than just fall like a thud with current customers.

What could this possibly be leading up to? Maybe AC/DC or Led Zeppelin on iTunes? It's been long enough.

@12: No, it's for Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Polka Band.

Zach, there's no need to be a dick. Ringo might not be your cup 'o' tea, but he's one of the bestselling musicians of all time, so adding his entire catalog and exclusive records is kind of a big deal. Especially considering that it seems pretty deliberate that Apple's leading up to adding George Harrison and the Beatles catalog.

Gobo, admittedly my source is Wikipedia, but I don't see Ringo's name anywhere on the list of best-selling musicians (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_music_artists).
Sure, the Beatles are number one, but if the release of Ringo's canon on iTunes merits a blog post, so too should the release of the solo work of other members of bands on that list.
I don't think anyone is clamoring for info about the availability of Tito Jackson's solo work on iTunes.

I won't argue that Ringo is the least successful post-Beatles, but give him some credit - he had 3 number one hits in the US, and quite a few more in the top five or so. He isn't exactly revolutionizing music (any more) but it's still enjoyable, and it's nice to see his older stuff up. If you want to check out some of his best solo work, download RINGO (self-titled).

Actually, Zeke, from 1970 to 1975, Ringo had the most successful solo career. After 1975, John retired. Paul has obviously taken the lead now, but he's had a more steady release schedule than the other two.

The only post Beatle album that has all four of the Beatles performing on it is Ringo Starr's Ringo. And whether or not you like Ringo, the fact that another Beatle has put his catalog on iTunes is Newsworthy.

At JeffDM: Speaking as a current generation BeatleFreak, I don't know why you're assuming that my generation doesn't appreciate The Beatles because I know several people that respect them.
