I did some traveling this summer (with two toddlers, so don't be envious). Certain that I'd need to conduct a search or two, I bookmarked my destinations on my iPhone, and you can do the same. Just follow the steps:- Launch Google Maps.
- Enter the zip code of your destination city.
- Once it has been found, create a bookmark.
- Repeat for each stop you'll make.
Now, when you're jonesing for a venti iced green tea latte in a strange place, simply launch Maps, click Bookmarks and then your location. You'll be sippin' in no time.

I agree. It would be a handy feature if I win the iPhone.

Do Google Maps searches default to the last area in which you searched? If not, I don't quite think I understand how this can work to find a Starbucks and not just the center of a ZIP code.

This really is so useful when you travel. I needed to change from a train to a ferry, so I had them both bookmarked. It was easy to figure out the route between them, but then I decided I wanted to go to a cafe. So I pulled up the train station bookmark, searched for coffee, found a place and got directions, then it was just as easy to get directions from the cafe to the ferry terminal. SO AWESOME.

Another tip: you can use Google Maps in a browser (not the iPhone) to get directions, etc -- then email the URL to your iPhone. If you tap on the link in your iPhone email, it opens up in the iPhone Maps application -- NOT safari -- which is terrific!
When I'm planning a trip with multiple legs, I just pull up the directions on Google Maps, and email all the trips to myself for easy access later via the Maps application on the iPhone.
