Apple lowers price of 8 gig iPhone to $399

There's really no excuse any more. You can now buy an 8GB iPhone for just $399, take it home, activate it, and use it with a prepaid card or existing AT&T account. If the unlocks prove to be working, add TMobile into that equation. What are you waiting for? Is this news enough to get you to buy an iPhone? Let us know in the comments.

Update: 4GB models selling now for $299 while they last. Refurb 8GB for $349.

apple did screw everyone. this is also the last time i'm buying a product from apple. for people who are thinking of buying one right now, who's to stop apple to offer it free in a few months (maybe in 2 months?) for signing up with AT&T?

6 weeks... I hate apple for doing this. Everyone is making fun of me now, and all I did was be a loyal customer to apple. That's the last thing I ever buy from apple. ever.

I'm now ashamed to carry my iPhone. I'm the butt of jokes of my friends - calling me a FOOL for having fallen in line for hours and buying the iphone at full price for $600. They kept saying that price will drop soon but I kept on denying that. And now it's true!

I hate Apple!

Hah... it's how the world works. Everyone knows stuff gets cheaper after it comes out. This just happened faster. Makes me laugh.

I would say "told you it was overpriced and by Xmas it would come a lot cheaper"

but was I surprised when that happened 2 months after release and not by cutting 10%-15% but a whopping 33%...

is it only me thinking they overpriced it and are now trying to meet the numbers?

I called the Apple store near me today and I am still pissed. He was a manager and said that unless I purchased my phone in the last 14 days there was nothing they could do- then after pressing him he admitted that it could have been within 16 or so days telling me there is room to move. I bought a month ago and feel totally taken advantage of. I feel $200 is a penalty for being loyal to Apple and supporting them. It WON'T happen again...

This is one of the reasons why after I buy some tech gadget or computer component, I never look for it again in an ad/online/etc. My friend, who I had a race to see who would get the iPhone first (I won), told me about this link as he laughed (guess he won in a different sense).

Heh - everyone outside USA who has wanted an iPhone for the last few months is having a quiet giggle to themselves right now.

For once I'm quite glad that Uncle Steve has skipped HK for the time being. I would have bought one on day 1 (ok, maybe day 2 - I hate queueing), and the news that it should be HK$1600 cheaper than it was on day 1 is very welcome news.

And if it's locked to a carrier, then there's the option of a phone-less iPhone.

It's a good day for non-USA based Apple users I'd say.
