Mark/Space to release Missing Sync for iPhone
When I saw that Mark/Space was planning to release a version of Missing Sync for iPhone my first reaction was: what for? But as it happens I think they've hit upon some needed features that are actually missing from the out-of-the-box iPhone experience. First is a Migration Assistant for moving contacts, calendar entries, and photos from a Palm, Windows Mobile, or Blackberry device onto your Mac and thence to the iPhone. It also syncs your SMS messages and call log to your Mac so you don't lose information when you hit the storage limits on the iPhone. Best of all, perhaps, is Notes syncing, which will allow you to view iPhone notes in Yojimbo, Entourage, or Mark/Space's Notebook application. Unfortunately, however, it appears that it's only one-way, from the iPhone to the Mac, and not vice versa. This lack two-way Notes syncing remains a puzzling lacuna as far as I'm concerned, and I'm looking forward to somebody, whether it be Apple or Mark/Space, filling this obvious hole in the iPhone feature set.Missing Sync for iPhone won't be available until the 4th quarter and will sell for Mark/Space's normal price of $39.95, but crossgrades will be offered from other Missing Sync products.

Think you mean 'lacuna' (singular) rather than 'lacunae' (plural).
I just assumed the Notes functionality in Leopard would sync bidirectionally with the iPhone, but if Mark/Space can't do it, maybe not (or maybe it's coming in a future iPhone software update?)

Not trying to be a downer, but I have been less than impressed by MarkSpace's MS for Palm. Support has been extremely weak for quite some time. I finally deleted it and have managed to do without (quite well). I would be hesitant about throwing $$ at them until this app. is proven to work well (and MS shows they will support their products better). I'm just sayin'.

I will never buy from markspace ever again, they claimed to support my Samsung i730 in their list but it has never worked and they wont give me a refund.
Do not buy from them, you will regret it.

Markspace products are utter drivel. The missing sync family is universally, jaw-droppingly terrible. Most products are simply not ready for sale - they should be embarrassed and they know it.
They should concentrate on making existing products actually work rather than moving on to cash in on the iPhone halo - but that sounds more like MarkSpace to me!
Just head over to the official website forums to see how happy their customer's are!

I used a palm device before I went over to the iPhone. I don't see why this is needed to get contacts from your palm over to iphone. You can sync your palm to your contacts then your iphone to your mac.

Markspace was good for palm users because of the no support for Macs. I see no need to buy this. Plus they charge basicly a full amount for any upgrades.
One of the things I was happy about when I bought the iPhone was that I didn't have to spend $39.95 to sync my phone.
It's a waste of $39.95.

Missing Sync for Blackberry never worked for me. This is one of the key reasons that I changed to the iPhone (sync with Mac actually works). I would not install any Missing Sync product on my Mac. Just one person's experience.

My experiences with Mark/Space have been great. I'm using a Treo650 and have had to restore two separate phones that had hardware issues. The restores went off w/o a hitch, my backups have worked w/o issue and I've never had a problem with errors in syncing.
The reason I bought MissingSync was to fix the iSync problem that is still not resolved [that I'm aware of] when using iCal/iTunes/iPhone.
I have 6 calendars and need to see them all as distinct entities, just as iCal tracks them - separate colors, names, etc. iSync would not transfer the Calendar names [OR location info] to the Treo and everything would end up in one calendar...all taking place nowhere. Missing Sync fixed this for me...here's hoping Apple fixes this before I buy my iPhone [just waiting for the current mobile contract to end].

I would think that the "Notes" feature on the iPhone would sync with the upcoming "Notes" in Leopard's Mail.app. Right? That's what I'm hoping for, come October.

This is another example of Apple's secrets causing havoc. Someone brings out a piece of software to plug a gap in Apple's system... in this case, Notes synchronization. But iPhone Notes will synchronize in Leopard, which comes out in a few weeks.
A lot of people spend a lot of time working on these things only to discover that Apple will make their efforts moot in short order. But they didn't know because Apple is so tightlipped about what they are planning.

I also have had great experience with missing sync . If you use a mac and a Treo you're missing out on a great synergy ! I had a glitch or two over the years but always got great help and feedback . I don't know about Samsung or blackberries . I'm glad to have them on board . We need all the help we can get .

Mark Space software was a serious waste of ones and zeros not to mention cash. Their PPC version product never worked as they claimed it did. They left those features on their web site so that new customers would get suckered into buying the product even after admitting that some 'features' were broken, including in the latest version. That's just plain lying to prospective customers.

Bwahahaha! MarkSpace really puts the missing into MissingSync. Dont expect it to sync with your iPhone in the next year, by which you will have to pay $25 for an "upgrade" to yet another beta version of their software.

Aaron W. #9, you are 100% correct. I also hope that Leopard bring some kind of "To Do" syncing...

I had a horrible experience with Calendar syncing calendars on my Tungsten using Mark Space and, after dropping the $40 on their product a few months ago, they wanted almost (if not) full price for the latest version. I hope I will never have to buy another product from them. Duplicated calendar events, duplicated alarms in events.. it was just a nightmare.

As with so many other folks, I'll never buy another markspace product again. Their missing sync for sidekick was incredibly bad, destroy your calendar and addressbook bad (make backups!), unreliable, with a bad UI and bad documentation. Instead of fixing it they discontinued it.
I wouldn't suggest anyone trust them with data until their quality improves significantly.
