Golden MacBook Pro
Let's say you're a Mac fan with a desire to stand out and way too much money: what do you do? Well gold-plate your MacBook Pro, of course! Computer Choppers has worked up a one-off example MacBook Pro, and will be offering the service commercially in the near future. In addition to gold-plating the aluminum casing they also paint match the keyboard and trackpad as well as re-engrave the keyboard letters. And if that's not special enough you can even replace the Apple with "your logo in diamonds."
Of course all of this will cost a pretty penny: $1200-$1500, "depending on current gold price" for the gold-plating alone. But with everybody and his brother getting a Mac portable these days, I figure that's a small price to pay for having the most blinged out Mac money can buy. There are more pictures on their site.

I think this is amazing stuff. When i bought my 17" G4 powerbook in march 2005, i've always wanted to get it done up in some sort of a stone. Like Onyx or Obsidian or Marble or something like that...so it would go with my colour scheeme in my condo. I also have a 12" powerbook G4 that i take with me so the 17" doesnt move from the desk. So, gold...i mean we're not there yet, but we're getting close to what im looking for. ;) But, good stuff.

Wouldn't that scratch really easy? I know my white gold ring had tons of scratches. Now Tungsten on the other hand.....:)

Screw the gold plating thing I would be interested in a cyborg green one though with a glowing apple (can probably get this at Colorware). Gold is just not my thing for a Macbook or any other computer...

not too pricey really! but I hope they prepped the surface or put some sticking layer down first
I still want a HOT PINK macbook, but the colorware premium was too much for my budget (esp since I still get student rates)
