Panic updates Transmit for Leopard
If you're a fan of Panic's very excellent file-transfer client Transmit, you're probably been anticipating a new version after Panic's update roadmap we linked to last week. Thankfully, the waiting is over, as Panic have released a minor update to bring Transmit to version 3.6.2.The update "adds full support for Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard), fixing all known Leopard issues and polishing the interface. It also includes fixes for other users, 10.3.9 or higher." and is a free update for Transmit 3 customers.

They've also added a huge and detailed version of the truck icon - definitely worth checking out in Cover Flow!

The latest Cyberduck nightly fixes some Leopard problems too:

@5 Chris
Filezilla works beautifully on Leopard. I'm a big fan of the "two panels" view so while Cyberduck is also nice, Filezilla fits my niche.
I chose Filezilla because regardless of cost, I've never had a ftp client I liked as much.
i use both cyberduck and transmit, and i have to say, i like transmit better.

Do you really think skinning some existing app is the solution here? I would pay 100% of the time for a great quality truly "Mac" app over some skinned tool no matter how much that "tool" offered. Granted, there would have to be some feature parity, but really skinning is not the way to go. Now several Mac apps are based on a proven opensource library wrapped with some Cocoa loving UI, and that is fine, but to many things are not given the care an attention that Panic and others have. This is worth the money, especially as a tool I use every day. OSS is great, but so are small independent mac development outfits. They are the ones who help make this platform what it is.
Chris,
I'm intruiged! What is it that makes you object to paying for FTP software? Perhaps the reason the free alternatives are so sucky is because they don't have the incentive to make them better (i.e. there's no money behind the development or perhaps support too)?
I used to use Cyberduck all the time, but the speed of Transmit and the love that Panic puts into the app more than justifies the cost in my humble opinion.
It still seems weird to me that we're expected to pay FTP clients on the Mac. Why are all the freeware alternatives so sucky? Can't someone just reskin one of the good Linux versions? :-)
FileZilla is actually decent since the last update. I suggest trying it out, but I don't know if it works with Leopard.
