Quicksilver goes Open Source
Long time readers know that we at TUAW love Quicksilver, the brilliant keyboard launcher application from Blacktree. Now after previously making promises to that effect, the developer (who likes to go by Alcor) has released the source for Quicksilver as a Google Code project. While Quicksilver has always had a highly extensible plugin system, this is great news for the code monkeys out there who can now really dig into the application. Mere moral users like myself can hope, however, that more eyes and brains working on the application will lead to more stability and faster development. A big TUAW 'attaboy to Alcor for taking this step! Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

This is the best news that i have heard ... i have been using quicksilver for about 4 months and whenever it crashes or anything i feel naked without it ... more plugins the better
Thanks
@Mat: thanks for the link policy change! TO be honest, I didn't think it would get this kind of response. :)

TX!
I don't even know what to download and where to start so I can check the source code out and learn how it was made. I'm really bad.
Anybody can help me out ?
I can't help but fear that this is Alcor dropping the project in the hope that someone else will take it up. Development of QS has been extremely slow in the past year, and a large number of issues have been left unadressed for even longer than that. The recent issues with blacktree.com being down for two weeks is really just icing on the cake.
I wouldn't be surprised to see an announcement in the near future.
Is there any way of building it using XCode 2.4.1 in Tiger?
When i'm trying to compile it, says:
error: There is no SDK at specified SDKROOT path '/Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.5.sdk'
Thanks in advance
Actually we have had a policy since day 1 of linking on the Read link directly to what we are blogging about. This has never changed. So, if you try the Read link, you'll find it goes to the project page...
Categories are what you see in our list to the right-- Cult of Mac, Security, etc.
Tags are based on folksonomies, or things that might change or keywords that might only be relevant to a few posts (like Oracle, or Microsoft).
@Mat Lu: Thank you, linking to different places is what www is all about.

I was going to suggest a compromise, that the links still go to the site's article search function, but that a link to the product home page is inserted above the search results.
It turns one click into two for the users -- which isn't so bad -- and still gives Weblogs, Inc. the ability to promote their story archive.
Anyway, moot now, I guess.
