iPhone Elite: 1.1.2 downgraded to unlock (updated)

Not quite as fast as the iPod touch jailbreak, but still pretty darn fast. Your move, Apple.
Update: Thankfully, Ibrahim clarifies in the comments, because I'm not sure I understand myself. The team has basically figured out a way to downgrade 1.1.2 to 1.0.2 or 1.1.1 and unlock it. They haven't actually unlocked the 1.1.2 iPhone, because it hasn't been jailbroken yet, but they have unlocked the new modem firmware.

Apparently Iphone-Elite team has indeed made the unlock work for the new modem firmware, however no one has ever had a 1.1.2 phone unlocked yet.
What iphone-elite has achieves as of yet (as Ive understood it anyway) is to downgrade a new 1.1.2 to either 1.1.1 or 1.0.2 and unlock it.
The downgraded iphones has the modem firmware, thus the possibility that the unlock will work for when ran on 1.1.2 is very high, but still untested because of no jailbreak.

Not to be a semantics nazi, but what Apple left you couldn't replace, right? "Adding what Apple left out" would be a better slogan.

1.1.2 users: Shortly after the release of 1.1.3, the iPhone dev team will release the unlock for 1.1.2.
P.S. :
One cannot replace something that was never there, so the tag line should be: "Providing what Apple left out", or "Finishing what Apple only started", or "Replacing what Apple never mastered".

From what I understand though (and please correct me) even if you downgrade 1.1.2 to a previous state (1.1.1 or 1.0.2) then you can't "unlock" the phone to use with other networks as anysim, etc don't work on 1.1.2!??
I'm heartbroken. Please continue the good fight whoever you are!

I'm confuzzed.
Didin't Erica just talk about a jailbreak for 1.1.2 (at least in an upgrade scenerio)
And what is that? Is OktoPrep all you need, or is there another step once you upgrade.

Mike Schramm, maybe you should change "but they have unlocked the firmware" to "but they have unlocked the new modem firmware".
Because the new modem firmware (a.k.a baseband) is retained when you downgrade.

I dun get it...i jus bought an iphone from UK (o2)..can someone clarify my doubts?..
1. firstly has the iphone-elite group created a full fledged working unlcoking method for the iphone?
2. If i downgrade my firmware from 1.1.2 to 1.1.1 using the shift/options method, can i bypass the activation screen? Because i reckon that if i downgrade my firmware i can atleast use my O2 sim on it as its got the new baseband..
Could someone please be kind enough to sort me out here..?

TurboSIM user here.
I updated to 1.1.2 with no problem. I'm also using T-mobile (US) not AT&T. I've even stopped pulling my TurboSIM/T-mobileSIM before updating.
I know I lost all my 3rd Party apps ... but someone will have a jailbreak soon enough. I did install OktoPrep before my update from 1.1.1 to 1.1.2 so now I'll wait. But at least my phone works! :)

I am so tired of hearing about jailbreak and all the junk about the iphone, you guys should start your OWN forum and leave the rest of us to peace and not have to read this junk daily.

Okay, I'm reallllly confused at this point.
This is what I *think* is the situation right now:
1. Oktoprep will prepare one's iPhone for re-jailbreak once the iPhone is upgraded to 1.1.2.
2. There is a 'jailbreak' method available once the phone is upgraded to 1.1.2, but the upgrade requires using 'programmer stuff' to make it work.
3. There is no 1-step or 'easy' jailbreak available at the moment, unless you are able to do 'programmer stuff.'
4. If you run Oktoprep and then upgrade, the apps currently on one's iPhone will continue to work (probably), but won't be able to add any additional mods until a new jailbreak for general use is released.
Am I right, or am I confused??

to ButisitArt
I'm using a Turbo Sim for my iphone too.
Could you tell me something?
1. You left the turbo sim in the iphone during the 1.1.2 updating?
2. After updating to 1.1.2, how to activate the iphone?
3. Is the phone function still working? Someone on the net said that the turbo-sim method has no longer worked! Can't call in&out!
Thank you!

I don't mean to be mean or pedantic, but seriously folks, are you going to entrust the security and well-being of your highly-sophisticated piece of high-tech hardware to folks who cannot write a simple sentence of English without committing about 8 heinous grammatical errors?
And what does this say about the quality of code these cowboys are laying down for us to burn into our blowers?
Hmmmmm...

It does *NOT* work.
Tested on a 1.1.2 phone that was downgraded to 1.1.1
Said it completed successfully, I have pics, but nothing.
Baseband was totally disfunctional afterwards.
No WiFi, no nothing.
CommCenter would not launch anymore.
After erasing the baseband, and retoring the phone worked fine.
**BEWARE** Non technical people WILL brick their phone.
