Adium adds videochat via MeBeam

To get it up and running, you'll need to download the plugin from Adium's Xtras site, and then of course have a camera (and they recommend a headset) ready to roll. Unfortunately, it seems all the plugin does is break open a link to MeBeam in your web browser, and connect the two users up, so it's definitely not a native solution. However, Adium's Eric Richie confirms in the comments that this is not meant to be an end solution-- it's simply a side project "in the meantime." Adium is still working on native video implementation, and so we can still expect to see native video chat sometime in the future.

Unfortunately you can't have a MSN account with that.

"you can - via jabber"
Jabber doesn't support video conferencing in ichat. The other option is aMSN which i have found to be a little unstable on Leopard. Adium's temporary solution is working great for me and my MSN contacts.

They need to fix the freaking file transfer first, it works about 25% of the time for me...

The MeBeam service does not depend that much on the software. As a result you can e.g. video conference with MSN contacts while using a Jabber client that does not know anything about MSN, like Coccinella, using a server-side MSN transport.

Hi, I really would like to know when you think OOVOO will be available for the mac. I'm thinking about buying a mac but use OOVOO extensively. It's been comming soon on the oovoo website for six months. Is it a week, month, six months? What's the best most conservative estimate?

Don't forget tokbox. They have integrated nicely with meebo. Integrating with adium should be as simple as sending a link to your tokbox account at hhtp://www.tokbox.com
