More iPhone in Canada stuff

Naysayers move along. We love you Canada. We love CNTM--yay Rebecca--especially after the Cylon was replaced by the small orange man. We love Vancouver and Montreal and Hockey and beer with actual alcohol in it. We love Hockey and Anne of Green Gables and Pioneer Quest and $1.05 on the dollar and Hockey. And so we will not rest until you Canadians have iPhones that don't involve trips into Buffalo.
Thanks Andrew Regalson

As a Canuck who's desperately awaiting an iPhone, i feel like i should call BS on that.
That's a current Rogers ad, i think, and the lady doesn't even have an iPhone in her hand. Is the best advertisement really a picture of a lady on some rocks, or a picture of the phone.

As someone noted at the original image hosting site, the name of the jpeg: "3253", happens to spell "fake" on a standard phone keypad. Also, this looks fake. Rogers may make some terrible ads, but they're not going to announce the iPhone in small print on a brochure that doesn't even have a picture of the phone on it. "Change the way you think about your wireless service" is too wordy, takes up most of the brochure, and has nothing to do with the iPhone. This thing stinks worse than Fake Fakerton on New Fakes Eve.

False alarm, I think:
(from the Rogers website)
Your search - iphone - did not match any documents.
No pages were found containing "iphone".

In the enlargement, look closely and you'll see that the area around the type is clearly grainier than the immediate surrounding. The fact that the increased graininess follows perfectly horizontal lines and that it extends further below the text than above leads me to believe that it's not a natural jpeg artifact.
Just some careless 'shopping.

Yeah, I have a feeling that if the actual release date of the iPhone in Canada had been released we wouldn't need to read about it here....

Every Canadian reader wants to hear an iPhone announcement, but can't you wait for something other than a photo or a web page? None of this means anything until it comes from a source that can be proven real.

It's amazing what one will do for new technology.
4 hours waits at the Buffalo border.. Well, we went for chicken wings too.. The Apple store was filled with Canucks. They must of sold 30 phones in the time I was there buying mine. Love it.. I was waiting years.. and now finally.. I hope Apple forces Rogers to be fair with the data voice plan. The Canadian celluar industry is a racket!

Americans buy prescription drugs in Canada, Canadians buy iPhones in the U.S.A. It only seems fair.
Could it be that Apple is the one responsible for the US Trade deficit to be one of the lowest in years? Ahh Steve is there anything you can't do?

I guess this is an easy way to get a post on TUAW, just send one of their bloggers a fake picture of the iPhone launch in X country and boom, they'll post it.
Shouldn't editors be screening these posts to make sure they don't make it to the live site?
Just my 2 cents.

Erica,
You can also check this "Rogers eNewsletter Preference Centre" page (http://reg.email.rogers.com/regp?aid=850917748&n=4&idc=%25%25password%25%25) under the section "What content would you like to see in your Rogers Wireless eNewsletter?" - 5th radio button and you will see "Upcoming wireless technology (Video messaging, iPhone, etc.)".
Cheers...

Hopeful thinking. Old ad with edited text. Like at the contents of the ad and think about it - does it look like an iPhone ad? And the copy - "Change the way you think about cellular service" - I get the connection - with any cell phone - but way too weak to be an introduction ad for the iPhone - even for an head-up-your-ass company like Rogers. And in case this is a little tester put out by Rogers to monitor the response - Note to Mr. Rogers: do us all a favour and go look elsewhere, hey I think LG has a new phone - touchscreen too, wow...

These fake "confirmations" are getting a little tiring. Really, the gullibility of some people is bordering on silly now.

Speaking as a Canadian: how often is TUAW going to get hoodwinked by "iPhone coming to Canada" links before they resolve to wait for a real, official announcement?
Hey maybe if they did that, they'd have time to report on non-iPhone news for a change?

Two universal truths:
- If a food is good, it is better wrapped in bacon.
- The only reason to ever go across the border to Buffalo is to tailgate at a Bills game
