iPhone update 1.1.2 is available in iTunes (US)

On Monday night, Apple finally made iPhone Update 1.1.2 available via the US iTunes Store. Apple's description of the update is typically cryptic ("...new features and bug fixes"), but we've noticed a few changes.

First, iTunes now displays your iPhone's battery status next to the phone's icon. Also, there's a new sub-menu that separates custom ringtones from the standard set.

Finally, you can select French, German or Italian as the default language and change the keyboard layout to English (UK), French, German or Italian. Go and get it, folks.

Hey,

I read the significance of the serial number and it says that 1.1.1’s were released on week number 39 and on. You know the date 1.1.1 was released, or know when iPhone’s with 1.1.2 were released, or if you know the week number it was released as well, so that I may know which exact iPhone to get when I get it?

the camera app also seems much less fuzzy on "moving" shots...not nearly as blurry. Flipping through the photo album also seems to have transparency in the menu bar I hadn't noticed before.

@ Sam

Do you have 1.1.2? Right now my "slide to Unlock" reads "Déverrouiller" . They don't offer Spanish yet in general, so I doubt it'd be there for the "Slide to unlock" button.

Of course if you want the "slide to unlock" button to cycle through several languages your best bet is probably some third party hack, it doesn't sound like something Apple would add as an option.

Seriously, how difficult is it for Apple to give us landscape keyboard orientation for eMail and text messaging?!?

If you can rotate a web page, you should be able to rotate a text message and eMail.

Seriously.

Hey don't know if anyone saw any of the features the update brings, but I was just thumbing through my contacts, and noticed the software now scales longer telephone types (e.g., I have "Work facsimile" as a category, which used to show up as "Work fac..." but now shows the whole name, just teeny-tiny)...

Easiest upgrade yet, went from a 1.1.1 unlocked iPhone on T-Mobile in the UK to 1.1.2 as easy as anything. iPhone was unlocked with iPhone SIM Free back on 1.0.2 and hasn't needed touching since, activation after using the jailbreak is just a case of replacing the lockdownd with the patched version available from:

Has anyone got the iPhone applications such as Mail or Maps to work on the iPod Touch yet with the 1.1.2 firmware? If so, let us know how you did it because I'm having a hard time getting it back up.

Thanks,
J.L.
