MakeiPhoneRingtone returns from the Dead

Rogue Amoeba, our favorite weaponized unicellular developer, has ressurected its free custom ringtone utility. Like an uncanny Zombie movie, iPhone firmware update 1.1.2 has dragged MakeiPhoneRingtone back from the beyond. 1.1.2's ringtone support once again allows you to add custom ringtones. Drop any AAC file onto its icon and the utility processes your audio and hands it off to iTunes, where you can sync it to your iPhone.

As I discussed in my earlier post, you need to keep your ringtones about 40 seconds or shorter. But other than that, you're simply good to go.

From their site "Actually, ringtone files (currently) have a hard ceiling of exactly 40.04 seconds. MakeiPhoneRingtone will pass off files of any length, but the Ringtones tab in the iPhone area of iTunes won't show files longer than 40.04 seconds. I used Fission to determine exact file lengths. 40.04 works, and 40.05 doesn't. Bizarre, but true."

ok, what are you talking about this 40 second deal, I have ringtones that range from 1 minute to FULL SONGS.
Your 40 second deal is nonsense, whoever said that hasn't tried it properly.

Does anybody know of any similar windows based software?

To the fanboys: yes I know it'd be easier if I had a mac, and i'd love one but can't afford it.

Im just happy I dont have to double or even triple buy a song to get a ringtone. I say triple, because a long time ago...a week or so...I bought a CD, loved the songs on it, wanted a ringtone and didnt want to buy it on iTunes and buy the ringtone for it as well...that's gay. Anyways, I have a couple custom tones for now, haven't gone and put something special for everyone...

I believe that this must have something to do with Woz, who in a recent interview spoke out for the customized ringtones!

Do you need to have 1.1.2 on your phone? Will this work with 1.1.1 and iTunes 7.5?
