Of course, there's the nonsense about SpeedDownload having a free upgrade to the next version if you bought SD since January 1 - except for the MacHeist II people, who have to pay the full upgrade price anyway. Even if they owned a pervious verison of SD!

MacHeist II seems to have ANOTHER black eye.

I played along last year but cannot be bothered with it after this year's wordpress pranks. I have a blog and I spent a weekend upgrading & backing it up because of these fools. I vote for a boycot:

To promote this Machesist this year, they formed a partnership with a few websites. They then pretended that a guy named malcor was bringing down these websites because they were "rotten to the core" and "apple fanbois".

Then MacApper made the mistake of saying they were brought down by a hole in WordPress, scaring a lot of people. Then when AppleMatters was brought down, people thought the engine they were based on was dangerous.

They gave up after they "brought down" AppleMatters because it was getting out of control. Now that you look at it, it was quite obvious that it was fake. Glenn Wolsey, MacApper and AppleMatters, not the biggest and most extreme of Apple sites on the net.
