Yojimbo updated to 1.5
You can get the 10.4 MB download here. Note that the update requires a change to your database structure, so it will back up your existing files before it runs.
Thanks, Dirk.

If your note-taking, data-collecting app doesn't agree with you, you've got plenty of options out there; as for me, I'm happy with Yojimbo,...

Unfortunately, if you use 1.5 and the reinstall the widescreen hack, it breaks the search capability within the application. Woe is me.

December 06 2007 at 11:53 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI wonder if the new Notes feature within Leopard's Mail 3.0 a good alternative to Yojimbo. Has anyone tried both and compared their strengths and weaknesses? Thanks!

I'm disappointed that this update doesn't add QuickLook support, though.
Still no tags in Yojimbo? Too bad, since I am in the market to switch from Mori, which is pretty close to abandonware, but I need something that supports tags, and lots of 'em.
December 05 2007 at 9:53 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyFor me what sets Yojimbo apart from all the others (at least for personal use) is the whole quick entry popup and library dock. This makes it impossibly easy to throw all your junk into it. I had a license for KIT and tried it a while ago, but even though it handled more file formats (I think this has now changed), these two features kept me using it. I really enjoy using it to store my serial numbers for all my software in addition to the occasional bookmark that I wouldn't visit enough to merit keeping in Safari. It's a good way to store PDFs too. Dot Mac syncing just sweetens the deal all that much more. I frequently have some of the same apps on both my Macs and with Yojimbo, I have a fast way to get the serial number for it. I also have DEVONthink Pro for academic use and absolutely love it too, but it's really an overkill for personal stuff.
December 05 2007 at 7:56 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI love these apps, but what I'd like to know is why tuaw as never reviewed thebrain: www.thebrain.com It's a kickass software that now has a mac version. (I am not affiliated in any way with thebrain, and have been using the software on PCs for 4 years now)
December 05 2007 at 7:47 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyAnyone compared Together(formerly KIT) to Yojimbo? I've messed around a little with it and it seems pretty decent.
December 05 2007 at 7:35 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI've tried many data managers too (Devonthink, Eaglefiler, Papers), but the program I'm using most is Yojimbo because its ease of use and how quickly and easy I can read my library of PDF files and notes. Image support is a great add-on. I wish they would add layers to folders for better organisation.
Ah well, *installing and testing*.
