Add ModMyiFone as an Installer.app source

A while ago, the nice people at ModMyiFone put together their own installer source. This source usually has up-to-date hacks in installable forms shortly after they become public. I've been besieged by kind commenters reminding me to put up a general post to let everyone know about this. If you'd like to add the MMI source to Installer, here's how.
In Installer.app, select Sources then tap Edit (top-right corner) and then Add (top-left corner), type in http://modmyifone.com/installer.xml. Tap OK, wait, and then tap Done. MMI gets added as a listed but "untrusted" source. Oh well, you can't have everything.

December 21 2007 at 5:06 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI added this source and it shows as UNCATEGORIZED category and UNTITLED source, but then adds no new packages available for downloading. What's up with that ?

December 21 2007 at 4:39 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWhat, my source isn't enough? (Just kidding.) :)
As for release notes, at least for my repository, I link the "More Info" for a package to the package's website. You can read this without having to install the package first. When I get updates, I ask the developers for a list of changes which I post on my blog, for all my users. http://blog.psmxy.org

Aww, Erica, I trust you. And so does Dr. Zoidberg. We both trust you.
December 20 2007 at 8:06 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI'd just urge everyone who uses this source and all others it links to, to just be cautious and aware of what they're downloading. Nothing against poetic_folly or MMi, I know you guys don't want crap in your source...I just know lots of people have gotten very comfy, and have forgotten that they're often downloading alpha/beta/unsupported software.
If I could ask one thing of the source owners, I'd love if it they REQUIRED competent release notes to be included in every Installer.app package. Can't tell you how many times I've passed up a seemingly-awesome package just because I can't find out jack squat about it without installing it. Which is kinda like swallowing a pill to find out what it does.
