Mark/Space ships Missing Sync for iPhone

We mentioned back in September that Mark/Space was planning a version of Missing Sync for the iPhone and now they've finally released it. In many ways it seems mainly focused on backing up your iPhone data to your Mac. It allows you to download SMS messages, your call log, and Notes. Unfortunately, the Notes functionality remains one-way; it lets you download notes from the iPhone to your Mac, but not upload them. In addition it will help in transferring personal data if you're migrating from a Palm, Blackberry or Windows Mobile device.

Missing Sync for iPhone is $39.95 thought a $24.95 crossgrade is available for owners of other qualifying Missing Sync products.

After spending $40 18 months ago for Missing Sync, I got nicked for another $25 for the Leopard compatible version. Once my #@#&*## Verizon contract is up in about 6 months, it's hello iPhone and goodbye Treo and Missing Sync.

Back up and view your SMS conversations on your Mac for free with: Syphone.app I'm a fan of MissingSync (have Palm and BB versions), but no two way since of notes between the iPhone and desktop... makes me wonder what this solution solves.

Missing Synch made since when there was not a good option (like in the case of Palm, for which the regular synch tools suck). But in the case of the iPhone, there are not enough value added features to justify the purchase.

Even two way notes would not make up for the whopping $25 crossgrade price. The only real benefit I can see is the ability to skip iTunes (which in my case can take a whlie to open with my library on a remote server).

A very lightweight synch tool would be nice, but it would have to be very lightweight and very cheap.

If you have to use iTunes to activate your phone, and you can sync your music, e-mail, bookmarks and addresses through iTunes, why use Missing Sync? iTunes stores youre notes, etc., one-way, just like Missing Sync.

The only difference I see is the ability to download SMSs and call logs.

This is a superfluous app, unless there's something I'm missing?

Maybe instead of creating a solution to a problem that doesn't exist they should be spending their time get missing sync for palm stable in Leopard.

Argh.... why'd I buy this damn treo!?

$39.99? For that few features? Yikes.

In the past I've always found the Mark/Space syncing tools to be well worth there money, especially in situations where it truly was the only tool to allow for syncing that particular phone.

But in the case of the iPhone, there is already a decent quality sync built right into iTunes.

$39.99 seems quite a bit steep considering how little it does. The migration tool looks nice, but still, I think they are charging over double what its worth IMO.

Jeez, what is so darn difficult about 2-way note sync? Palm, Windows, Mac, iPhone, doesn't matter, it always sucks or doesn't work right, or won't talk to whatever desktop app you use (Yojimbo, etc.)... This is like the #1 thing I'd like to use a PDA for, but I find myself grabbing a piece of paper because no one can figure this out.

Welcome to the world of tomorrow!
