Found Footage: iPhone 1.1.3 jailbroken already?

Seems like it was only yesterday that the iPhone was first hacked. But now, it looks like the 1.1.3 firmware jailbreak is a reality! Many have gotten emotional about the 1.1.2 jailbreak getting "broken" after the 1.1.3 upgrade; fear not, you may well have a jailbreak for 1.1.3 soon enough! See the video -- there you have it, Installer.app working with a 1.1.3 iPhone.

Will this new jailbreak process be released in the immediate future? Who knows, but we can tell you that iPhone Atlas is reporting that the jailbreak requires a hardware modification of some sort -- leading me to believe that this hack isn't for the faint-of-heart. However, it might be worth it to wait until next month, where we should be seeing the official SDK from Apple.

FAKE!!!

Can't you realize? there's a slight stutter on the video, it briefly pauses, then, the dot page indicator on the bottom are gone, right after Installer opens.

My guess is that this is a 1.1.3 ipod then it cuts to a jailbroken ipod (no dots on bottom) running Installer...

Nothing here that would confirm 1.1.3 is hacked.

First it's an iPod Touch. Second installer.app shows what the current release of firmware is, NOT what is on the iPhone/Touch. Any 1.1.2 jailbroken user can confirm this, just launch install and it will say 1.1.3.

As for the hackint0sh link(s), how about the hacker showing a screen shot with the theme changed, and wobbling icons? You can easily make webclip icons for 1.1.3. Those screen only show me a stock 1.1.3 iPhone with webclips made.

*There's much newer news than this.* 1.1.3 has been jailbroken. It started off as a hardware hack. Then it was a software hack but took 2 or 3 hours to complete. Now they've got it down to about a 30 minute procedure and are in the process of simplifying it for folks like you and me.

They're purposely waiting for Apple to release the SDK next month before they officially release the jailbreak in hopes that Apple won't release yet another anti-hack before the SDK.

Why are people so narrow minded these days? I am tired of hearing people go on about "please don't create a live blog of another hack", and "why would people want to hack after SDK comes out". The answer is simple. The iphone is NOT available in all countries. I am in Canada and I have an iphone. We can't get one through AT&T so we have to purchase them in the US (or some other country that has them) and then hack them so we can use them. The iphone is obviously better than anything else that is available in the area. If it wasn't for the blogs on this site I wouldn't have gotten an iphone 3 months ago. Keep up the good work TUAW and keep posting iphone blogs regardless of comments from those that find it too difficult to SCROLL PAST iphone related articles.

theres another youtube video where he opens the installer. Its real. And the iphone dev team confirmed it jailbroken. But it wont be released untill after the sdk is out so they dont have time to patch it.
