Pocketguitar for the iPhone lets you strum on the multitouch

Engadget found this slick little gem over the weekend for your jailbroken iPhone. It's a virtual guitar (a lot like Jam Sessions if you've ever played that, actually -- reaffirming my thought that the iPhone is the best handheld gaming device ever made), where you can put your fingers over the strings at the top, and then strum on the bottom to play notes and chords. Not only can you play your own songs, but you can even play along with any stored music you have on your iPhone, too. And every song, I tell you, can be improved by throwing in another guitar solo.

Pocketguitar for the iPhone and iPod touch is available on the ModMyiFone.com Community Sources packing in Installer under Toys. Load it up and strum away.

This is pretty cool, and sounds surprisingly good. I'm looking forward to future versions as the programmer states he/she intends to add a control for the number of frets. I have pretty small fingers but it's difficult to not make mistakes since the frets are so close together. I'm having fun with it though.

No reason it can't remember touches, even if it only sees two fingers moving at a time. Tricky tricky tricky TRICKY!

I thought the iPhone's multi-touch could only recognize two individual touches at a time. This sounds like it would require a lot more than that to work properly. So how many is the hardware capable of?

I'm pretty sure it is technically capable of more than 2 at once.

This is SUPER!!! I'm dying to see the updates. :-P

If there was one only who could translate the KORG KAOSSILATOR to the iPhone. That would tilt the iPhone up to the Professional studio level!

Just check this KORG out.
It has a similar touch pad as the iPhone!

BUT... can you make it for left-handed guitarists like myself, Paul McCartney, Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix and more?

I don't think Kobain or Hendrix will be using this.

Waouwww. I know monsterandfriends are making a drum kit app (mpc500) for the iPhone. And now there's this.
We just need a keyboard(piano) app and something like garageband or ableton live on the iPhone and then we could be iPhone producers.
