iPhone 1.1.3 jailbreak now for Mac, that was quick
It has definitely been an iPhone-friendly day on the interwebs. It was just a few hours ago that the iPhone 1.1.3 jailbreak was released to the public by Nate True (from cre.ations.net). However, this was a Windows-only version of the jailbreak; but Nate was working on a Mac version and has just released it!You can download the Mac version of the software from the cre.ations.net website. Please note that this jailbreak might be hazardous to your iPhone's health. Before you jailbreak your iPhone, be sure to backup in iTunes -- and as always, hacking your iPhone is completely at your own risk.

It's great that someone jailbroke 1.1.3. BUT, it's about the stupidist thing that the person released the jailbreak. Now apple is just going to patch the part that was jailbroken. This may not seem like a problem in fact, your probably thinking "why would that ever matter?" Here's the problem, since Apple has always fixed which ever part of the firmware that was broken, they will only do it again with the 1.1.4 firmware. Once again you might wonder why this matters. It matters because unless a jailbreak isn't released before the next one comes out, Apple's firmware will continue to become more UN-jailbreakable. 1.1.2 was jailbroken before it even came out. 1.1.3 took several weeks before it was jailbroken. who knows how long 1.1.4 will take. Once again it mihgt not seem like any of this matters, but it does. If Apple creates an "un-jailbreakable" firmware, all us AppTapp users won't ever be able to upgrade without restoring. And then when Apple comes out with a firmware that is truly genious (which they most definatlly will) we will have to abandon the AppTapp Installer. Or suppose Apple comes out with a firmware that can detect the jailbreak even AFTER restoring your device. Then your warrenty is shot. Either way, this battle will never end until we the AppTapp users decide to settle with ONE firmware. Why should we give up? Well, if we don't one of to above will happen, and Apple will most defininatly not give up. So, I would like to suggest that ALL of us jailbreakers SETTLE with the 1.1.3 at least until 1.1.4 firmware is released.

January 28 2008 at 4:07 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyHello everybody!
I have/had a iPhone 1.1.2 OTB 4.6 jailbreaked with a Stealth sim and upgraded my iPhone when the newest firmware 1.1.3 came out two weeks ago. Since then I can't use my iPhone at all. The last couple days there have been released a lot of hacks to upgrade to 1.1.3, but none of these hacks I can use... Is there anybody who knows how I can use my Iphone again with an earlier firmware version or with 1.1.3? I am really missing my iPhone. I hope you guys can help me! I appreciate your help!

What does it mean when it says that the BSD subsystem passwd command is broken on 1.1.3?

how do i get the default files and replace it... i cant install open ssh
How about the official dev-team jailbreak! For mac and for windows! No problems attached. I just wrote up an article on it. http://bretlindquist.com/iphone-113-jailbreak/
January 27 2008 at 11:20 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI have a jailbroken 1.1.2 Ipod touch and when I run "Run_This" this is what it says:
Let's start by checking your iPhone. Make sure it's plugged in and press Enter.
Checking iPhone version...
You have iPhone version .
Sorry! You must have an iPhone 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 with Installer.app installed. Press Enter to exit.
I've read in your comments that some users have been able to run the jailbreak on Ipod touch... can someone help me?
If I just got an iPod touch today (revision B with software update) and I restore to 1.1.2 and Jailbreak, will it still have the January Update apps? And if I update back to 1.1.3 will it have the apps?
January 26 2008 at 11:21 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI've got a jailbrocken iphone with 1.1.1 (unlocked with anysim) and installer.app installed.
But I got the following error:
"Checking iPhone version...
You have iPhone version .
Sorry! You must have an iPhone 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 with Installer.app installed. Press Enter to exit."
Hmm? What's wrong with my iPhone? It is running on 1.1.1. Does anybody know more about this problem?
Thanks
Worked perfectly well.. I had Fw 1.1.2 jailbroken and IPSF. Dont forget to set auto-lock to never (iPhone 101, but still, could explain all the frozen phones during process). Uninstalled all 3d-party apps before doing the upgrade. The process was painless and fast. Had to restore network settings to make EDGE settings work again and had to install Navizon to get the Locate me function in Maps to work. Other than that.. perfect, thanks!
