We've mentioned WebClips before. Repeatedly. Just like you all have in the tip emails recently. But fear not, as we've been busy working...

Yeah, I concur with my other cohorts regarding an Iphone optimized version of this site. It should work like bank of america's site, it automatically redirects you to the site upon detecting its a mobile devise.
You could easily take 24 hours off of writing Jailbreak posts and in that same amount of time create this type of site....
Don't bother waiting for TUAW to do something like this. The site is owned by AOL and I'm sure there's tons of bureaucracy involved with making just the slightest of changes - consider how long it took them to get a webclip icon set up (that a reader like myself created, uploaded and used as a webclip icon in under five minutes using instructions found on allinthehead's website). You're better off bookmarking the RSS feed and using the same webclip icon, that's what I do and it's very snappy on the iphone, has images, and cuts out all of the annoying advertisements that are plastered all over the site and slow down the browsing experience significantly.

January 26 2008 at 10:15 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThanks guys thats a sharp looking picture you guys did a great job. Here is a question for you guys. The webclip is stored on the server of the site being hosted. I myself made one for my site after I heard about this.
My question to you guys is this. If someone already has a webclip on their phone will it automatically get replaced when the site placed one there and if so how long.
To me it would seem like the image should get cached on your iphone but I might be wrong entirely.
Maybe I'm missing something, but could someone please point me in the direction of the webclip icon.

Apple should have set this up to use a site's favicon because I don't see many sites going through the hassle of creating this web clip icon.
@Sportsmedjosh
They took a physical picture of it no screenshots.
You can tell the icons are a little fuzzy looking, A screen shot would not look like it.
You're correct. As I've not jailbroken my phone (I prefer not to :)) I simply took my macro lens and shot it with a tripod & my D80.

how does one grab a screen shot like this on their iphone.
January 26 2008 at 6:17 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replynot sure if it still works, but Erica whipped this up:

If it's jailbroken, then this one is by far the best:

2008 caused me so many problems that I was on the phone with tech support for about 6 hours last Monday. After the end of my session with them my computer didn't work at all and I had to do a fresh install of 10.5 to even get my system working. I'm really upset with the no support for EndNote.
January 26 2008 at 6:16 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI add my voice to the request for an iPhone optimized view of tuaw
January 26 2008 at 6:09 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyAll of you asking for a version of the site, why don't you just subscribe to the RSS feed using safari on the iPhone? That's exactly what you'd need isn't it?
January 26 2008 at 3:48 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyBecause we would still have to wait 10 minutes to load the stupid site to load if we wanted to read comments or leave a comment.
