NetNewsWire 3.1.2 is out
Here at TUAW, we rather like Brent Simmons' excellent (and now free) news-reader NetNewsWire. Not only does it make a lot of our lives easier by managing our feeds, but the syncing with NewsGator's other online and Windows desktop clients mean that we're (sadly) never far away from the news. If you too are a fan of NNW, then you'll probably want to know about the release of NetNewsWire 3.1.2, fixing (amongst other things):- 'I-see-nothing' bug which displayed an empty window for some users
- Entity decoding in <link>s
- much more aggressive removal of read items from their folders
- a few syncing bugs

I hope this release fixes the YouTube issue. On 3.1, even with plug-in setting enabled, YouTube contents just dont' load up for me.

What does "much more aggressive removal of read items from their folders" mean ? The fact that if you jump to another folder all read articles are erased is the point which force me not to switch from Vienna. How can it be more aggressive ? I like deleting manually articles I don't want to read anymore. Well, I'll give it another try as there are some feature I like in NNW.

Just checked and the current download version is 3.1.1, not 3.1.2 as this post says. Although people on the forums mention using 3.1.2betas of various flavors, there doesn't look to be any release notes for a new version today.

Try running a check for updates within NNW itself.

Can someone explain to me why I'd use an OS-specific application for RSS instead of the web-based Google Reader?
I've been using Google Reader for awhile now and love it, but am I missing something by not using a standalone RSS app?
Explain it to me like I'm 5.
