Oddly enough, with the two new iPhone commercials, there is no mention of the new 16GB model that was just released today.
Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

So... what ringtone are they using? Is that standard? (I just did a quick glance, and didn't see any "normal" type ringtones on my list..)

Yeah, I've been wanting that standard ring too.
Wonder how much Facebook paid Apple to be featured in that ad?

Nice Audi A4 plug. I'm a long time Audi fan, but trust me, no discerning buyer (say, an Apple user) could really justify the purchase of a A4 when the BMW 3 and Cadillac CTS can be had.

Huh? Are you an Audi "fan" or an Audi (Quatto) *driver* ? How can you even compare the A4 (Quatto) to a BMW 3 series, or a Cadillac CTS ?!?!?!
The bigger question is why would Apple feature a heavily Flash-dependent website (reviews include Flash video) in an iPhone ad, or did I miss the iPhone Flash software update ???

dondi, you know BMW has xdrive, and CTS has an AWD version as well, so they are *easily* comparable.
IMO these ads are hit or miss. Some of them make me cringe to be an iPhone owner, because they seem to be gloating--exactly the image Apple needs to get away from.

There's no need for them to date their iPhone commercials with mentions of the flash memory capacity. Solid state storage space is going to rapidly skyrocket in the coming couple years.
Actually - when do they EVER leverage specs in their advertisements?

I agree. Not that it was a poorly written post, but I wouldn't expect it to talk about the new capacities. I think that will be advertised at the stores, they still want to show people how well featured this phone is. You best believe once they start the SDK, there will be a commercial about those apps!!

Am I the only one who noticed that the incoming call notification screen in those ads is not the usual screen ? On my iPhone, the picture of the caller fills the entire screen, it's not up there in the right hand corner. Is there a way to set that option somewhere in the settings ? I couldn't find it.

You have to attached those contact pictures using your computer (Address Book or Outlook) and sync to your iPhone in order to have the incoming caller's picture show up in the upper right corner.

Yes. You get that much smaller picture in the Incoming Call screen if you set a contact's photo in Mac OS X's Address Book application, rather than setting on the iPhone from Photos application. Found this on accident, but much prefer it.

Take this as you will but I thought the whole idea of safari on the phone was to give you the real internet and not water downed wap pages. In the apple dev section they discuss how to develop sites that will display well on the iPhones screen. I understand that you can visit regular sites but when these regular sites start redirecting you to iPhone styled pages when you visit then doesnt it just become a fancy wap page then?

While many sites are starting to utilize the unique Mobile Safari browser on the iPhone, they almost always have an option to "visit the regular site". Facebook has this at the bottom of their iPhone site, if you ever wanted full access.
These sites usually optimize the iPhone's touchscreen (rather than being watered down, plain-text mobile sites) and allow you to easily accomplish common tasks (check your Facebook, browser Google Reader, etc.) where you might normally have to wait for various functions to load. They certainly don't limit the iPhone, and they're only helping. Don't worry, it's still the real internet.

It's all about screen real estate.
Sure, I _can_ surf the normal NY Times website, but then I have to zoom, deal with multiple ads, etc. The site, like 99.99% of sites out there, are designed for big, fat monitors.
mobile.nytimes.com on the other hand is formatted for mobile devices and is a lot easier to navigate on a small screen.

I, looked up "Kevin Tenglin" on Facebook, and he only has 8 friends on Facebook, 5 of whom belong to the "TBWAChiatDay" network.
Looks like Apple's still using the same advertising agency 24 years after "1984".

I thought this commercial was eriely timed, not because of the recent updates or anything, but because I was reading a list of iPhone version websites when I lande don the facebook one and THAT SECOND the commercial chime din to tell me how great it was.
Now that's targetted marketing, folks.
Also, Joey makes a good point, it sort of defeats the purpose of having a full-fledged browser if you're using optimized pages, not to mention that these pages often display awkwardly on other mobile internet devices, which limits their usefulness to just the iPhone and Touch. If they were using the iPhone as an excuse to create mobile versions of their site it make more sense than making a limited version. Didn't they do the same thing when Palms started to go online, too?

Can you please not link to tags? Its realy irritating to click on iPhone expecting to go to Apple's site and end up with more TUAW... Didn't one of the writers say they were trying to avoid doing this now?
