iPhones from around the world

Where in the world are Apple's missing 1.3 million iPhones? Iran? Holland? South Africa? Yes! Lots of other places too.

We asked for pics and you answered: iPhones from around the world, from countries where the iPhone isn't even sold with service. Canada makes sense, as a quick trip across the border will land you an iPhone. China also makes sense, as it wouldn't be Hong Kong without a gray market plethora of unlocked iPhones, would it? We got reports from almost every part of the globe, and put together a nice little gallery to show just how popular this gadget is -- service or not. Where there's a hack, there's a way...

What surprised me most was seeing the pics that showed many iPhones in boxes in the windows of some shops that are nowhere near an "Apple iPhone" country - Apple has a few questions to answer there considering their so called 'policy' of 5 per customer - Certainly explains where the 'missing' 500,000 are that the Financial Advisers have highlighted. :)

Perhaps Apple is trying an old marketing trick - "Lets run it up the flagpole and see how many salute" :)

They (Apple ) would be certainly getting some clear indications of what should be getting done

I send you a lovely Picture of my iPhone in front of the swedish newspaper Göteborgs Posten and you didn't post it!

I never read the newspaper and only bought it for that picture, I am upset that you would tell users to send pictures and then limit the amount you put up? What your poor servers cant host 10.000 jpg files?

You didn't put any Australian locations on your map - There are a lot of iPhones in Australia - In my small city (Townsville, Queensland - Pop.180,000) there are at least 20 iPhones that I know of - I've unlocked them all :))

Yes Hong Kong, is definitely one of those places where you can easily get them unlocked, you'll pass them in some of the windows of electronic shops, but I didn't expect them to be used in advertising campaigns:

I don't think pic 82 is from Canada. We have no network called "Jaco". The only GSM networks are Rogers (pic 83 or 84) and Fido - used to be called Microcell (no pictures).

Right, Jaco is the photog's dog's name. Erica wrote a post about how to change the name of your carrier, which is why some of the carriers appear wacky.
