Mac OS X slips, iPhone rises in Net Applications survey
This post is for Apple fans who enjoy obsessing over minutia. The latest Net Applications survey has been conducted and shows differing results for Mac OS X users and iPhone users. Net Applications measures the percentage of users who visit some 40,000 web sites from a given operating system. In February, the number of Mac users dipped slightly to 7.45% from 7.57% in January, while the number of iPhone users rose to 0.14% from 0.13% in January (beating out the Playstation and Wii).
Windows still accounts for 91.58% of web users, according to the survey. What this means is A.) Most people have windows (we knew that), B.) Some people have Macs (we knew that), C.) iPhone users like to surf the web (we knew that) and D.) People love talking about very small percentages. Awesome.

Usually something shaped like a pie draws peoples attention, but to provide a summery that just blows out people like Engadget! (I read engadget, yes I know engadget and TUAW are both related, but a summery, you just made my week)

lol we all know that Engadget are a bunch of Apple Fanboys anyway :P lol.
That aside, this was amusing, haha. I reckon that all the people who make these things account for most of the Windows users :P Who else would waste time making pie charts telling us things we know? lol

A. sub 1) A year after the release Vista has won only a very tiny piece of the cake.

I'm an Apple fanboy, don't get me wrong; but isn't it interesting that Vista for all it's flaws has more market share than the entire Apple slice?
Quine said 6:16PM on 3-02-2008
Not really, because vista is a perfect subset of the windows xp catagory of 3 years ago. Part of XP users just became vista users...so the only thing that means is that vista is chipping away very slowly at XP's userbase. If XP's userbase didn't exist and microsoft's first os was vista, it would occupy less than linux.

Don't forget that a lot of people don't have a choice of operating system when they buy a new machine. The majority of them ship with Vista only. My sister bought one and I immediately helped her install XP on it.

Not seeing iPhone in there. I looked again, not seeing it. I assume it's in "other" but then, who cares?

The 12% vista market share was accomplished
in about 1 year +.
Apple have never hit that mark in 40 years
hmmmmmmm.
Small yes, apple craves most def.
And would computers ship with linux? Apple wants world domination with a close state of mind YEAH THAT WILL HAPPEN.
everything and anything is compatible with windows is market standard.
just like regular car doors and not lambo style.
GET SERIOUS people mac will only reach as far as the leaders mentality and their leader to this day believes in 1 button mouse lol hahahaha

Boy, do you have no clue what you are talking about - you must have had a System 7 experience and never came back.
No major computer company that is alive today has been around for 40 years! Except IBM and HP and TI... barely...
The 12% "mark" is called a "forced market" in the trade. When you require a manufacturer to install your current crap (even though there are problems in the boardroom with the "golden" tvrd... that is forced marketing.
And just so you have a better clue - Apple's installed base is over 20% worldwide.
BTW, your grammar is indicative of either someone who is an ESL slow learner or about 3rd grade. Need to buckle down on your homework there!
Oh, one button mouse - obviously you have not seen the new Apple Mouse. If you can get from your village to a real city that has actual Apple products ask for a demonstration of the capabilities of the Apple Mouse with or without a tail!
Get serious and plan a clear cogent and factual slam if you are going to continue. Otherwise, find the opening to the hole again and close the door.

Never is a strong word. Ignoring hand held music devices and portable computers of today, 27 years ago Apple held a 15% -20% share with the Apple II:

Ok Kakapo,

or about a 3rd grade?
Am I in the 3rd grade or about a 3rd grader?
I dont know I mean english is not my main language
but I think there is something missing there.
