If you have recently used the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on the iPhone or iPod touch, then you may have noticed a new tab that Apple added. In the "Featured" category, you will find an "American Idol" tab beside "New Releases" and "Genres." 
Use Spotlight as a reference tool. Type any word in the Spotlight box and one of the top entries will be a definition. Click on it, and it will bring up the dictionary application to check the word in either the dictionary, thesaurus, Apple database, or Wikipedia.

I knew all the geeks would hate this, but tens of millions of Americans watch this show every week, it deserves it's own tab
Plus, given the interface of the WiFi Music Store, it would be hard to put the idol section any other place

Most popular show on American TV...exclusive deal with Apple...tons of opportunity for incremental income and totally the kind of thing you'd think to buy while out and about to listen to your favorites or show to friends. I think it's a great idea for them to be trying it out with a tab and seeing how it performs.

It's a great business decision for itunes to partner with idol because it's a huge base of potential customers (just look at the commercials) and American Idol has a nice "family" polished quality on it's surface. It really does have a lot of buzz around it. Does it deserve its own tab? Yeah, it does........on my iPhone? Nah, not really but, I see a ton of "other" crap I much rather less see. All in all, what's good for Apple is good for applefans.

Mine doesn't show that tab, just "New Releases", "What's Hot", and "Genres"...
(Though I'm outside the US and rocking 1.1.2 after declining to update the Touch firmware for $20...)

I don't have an American Idol tab either.
I am also outside the US (and just as importantly do not have an account in the US store) -- currently running 1.1.3.
Seems to be limited to the American store. Somewhat silly, but if that's how they want to play then okay....

This is the most ridiculous "feature" ever! I will bet anyone 10,000$ that this tab doesn't last more than a few updates.
