Freeverse working on Flick Sports for iPhone
Freeverse wrote today to tip us off about this webpage that describes their new Flick games for iPhone; the games are going to be written using the iPhone SDK as soon as soon can be.
These games will use the iPhone's accelerometer to create Wii-like interaction for baseball, motosports, bowling and so forth. The page shows a number of mockups of the games in progress, and Freeverse's PR folk assure us the games are going to be released as soon as possible. There's more details of the games in action over at Freeverse's site.
Let the games begin!

Hmmm. Accelerometer baseball. If the wii remote slips out of my hand, I'm not out much, but what happens if I end up tossing my iPhone into traffic? That could be a $500 mishap! Or will someone start selling iPhone tethers?

Just to clarify...
Freeverse plans to use the accelerometer where it makes sense or adds fun to the games, such as tilting to control your motorcycle, but the primary interaction of Flick Sports will be the Flick mechanism, i.e. finger swipes, pinches, etc.

I find it interesting that someone made a semi-photorealistic rendering of the iPhone instead of just using one of the many actual photos to put the screenshot in. Just seems like a lot of work for no reason; that's all.

You'll have to ask Apple why they bothered to make a semi photorealistic image of the iPhone... or all their products.

I hope they come up with a new name for the baseball game.
"2nd Stroke Johnny" ?!?!

I wonder, once Apple releases the SDK, how quick do you think the free apps will show up? Do they need to be approved? Added to iTunes?
I'm hoping the free apps from the Installer.app show up in hours.

I'm guessing that installer.app will be one of the first to be ported, then the rest will just work. That's assuming apple allow free apps at all.
Then again there's pwned, which rather moves the goalposts.
