TypePad talks iPhone app
I've been a happy user of Typepad of nigh on 4.5 years now, and I was quite tickled when Six Apart released their iPhone/iPod touch web app. Now only a few months later, and iPhone/iPod touch Typepaders can now check their blog's stats right on their iPhone by visiting i.typepad.com.I tried it with my very own blog, and it works well. It loads quickly over EDGE, and is easy to navigate with one finger.
But the news doesn't stop there. The good folks at Six Apart also mention that they are hard at work with the iPhone SDK to produce a native iPhone app for Typepad blogging. I used a previous Windows Mobile native client from Typepad, and it worked well so I can only imagine what they will be able to do on the iPhone.
You can check out all the mobile features of Typepad, and sign up to get notified about the iPhone app, here.

Oops, I should have clarified something. The new stats feature is only available for TypePad members since it's a hosted service, the Movable Type plugin offers all the other features though.

TypePad is a paid service with prices starting at $4.95/mo. and the web app allows members to make posts, manage comments and now monitor their stats with an iPhone/Touch.
We also offer an iPhone/Touch web app for our downloadable blogging app Movable Type, which has both free and paid versions available. For MT users, the web app is a free plugin you can download at:

I don't really understand what this is? Does your blog have to be hosted by them, or can this thing be used to post wordpress-blog entries for example? Cause Safari, and therefore also mobile Safari has that bug with the WYSIWYG in Wordpress and destroys word and sentence formation.
Would be really cool if it works for this app.
Could you explain what this service really can do with a wordpress blog?
Hey FoundintheFlood,
Here is what I know:
TypePad is a competitor to Wordpress, but they both do the same basic thing - make really wonderful blogging software. Wordpress went more the open source route and tends to rely on the community to add on plug-ins, templates, and features where TypePad seems to be ahead of the curve in adopting new ideas right into the software.
I also believe TypePad is a paid platform where Wordpress is free.
Usually you'll find a person either loves Wordpress or loves Typepad, but like most geeky things, rarely both. And there is a rabid desire to prove the other side wrong.
So as a Wordpress user this sounds really cool but not enough to convince me to think about hopping fences.
