Gameloft to release 15 iPhone games by end 2008
Gameloft announced that they will bring 15 of their games to the iPhone platform. Gameloft, as you may already know, has released some iPod games on iTunes already. Pocket Gamer has a mock up of what one of the games may look like. Interestingly, this screenshot was shown off in Gameloft's keynote speech in the days leading up to the iPhone SDK announcement. Gameloft produces some big-name games for other mobile platforms, including: Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six, Rayman, Might and Magic, and Prince of Persia.

I'd love a copy of "Price of Persia"! Sounds like a simulation or strategy game. I can picture it now: Do you buy Mullahs or do you build Mosques? Is that new suicide bomber squad going to be enough - or do you need long range SCUD missiles? You probably push the price of oil up by releasing press statements threatening Israel. Or is it a FPS?

@Andrew:
How's the old racism working out for you?
The world needs a bit more tolerance and a few less xenophobes like you.

What racism? Can't take a joke, huh? Not only do I have Iranian friends but I likely know a lot more about Iran than you do. And what's racist about the fact that the country is ruled about Mullahs? And they *have* suicide bomber squads that parade every year. And they *have* long range missiles that can hit Israel. And they *do* threaten Israel every now and then. Iran without theocracy would be a great country - me making fun of a typo is not racism you idiot.

Just because they can, doesn't mean they should. Rainbow Six was not meant to be played. An FPS was not made to be played on the iPhone. The iPhone is for simple games. The one that Apple demoed during its roadmap was the extent of gaming that I can see. Games that require precision are, in my opinion, pointless and unwelcome on the iPhone. Stupid idea.

I meant the Space Fighter demo.

To be completely honest, I'm unexcited about this announcement from Gameloft. The games on iTunes aren't exceptionally good, and it just feels like they're going to become a 'stack 'em high and sell 'em cheap' form of game, which isn't what this innovative platform needs.
I've written my thoughts in more depth on my new blog at http://themacweblog.com/gameloft-join-the-iphoneipod-touch-games-marketplace

I think the iPhone games are meant for casual on-the-go game (you know, to while time away while the girlfriend is trying on her 100th pair of black shoes) or while commuting. Simple does it.
I'd like to see a Photo Hunt clone for iPhone.
