iTunes users who also happen to be fans of a goblin David Bowie, Gelflings, Skeksis, Mystics and/or Jim Henson have reason to celebrate: two of Henson's cult classic films are now available on iTunes. The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth are now available for purchase at the iTunes Store. This comes on the heels of the Farscape and Fraggle Rock iTunes releases in January.
If you've never been able to get the cry of the Skeksis or the image of a frighteningly glam Goblin King (with fantastic hair) out of your head, pop up iTunes and make some Jim Henson magic. While you're there, you can even grab the slightly watered-down musical numbers in the Labyrinth Soundtrack to go with it, as well as a copy of The Muppet Christmas Carol, just in case the kids need some lighter fare after The Dark Crystal. Can't beat that, right?

The ONLY thing that stuck with me after watching Labyrinth all those years ago was... David Bowie's tricks with the crystal balls.
aka "contact juggling" (ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contact_juggling)
trivia: the hands that were actually doing those tricks in the movie belonged to Michael Moschen. (youtube of same: http://youtube.com/watch?v=NzdRg6lo4j0)

The standard joke in our group was "SEE! Michael Moschen play with David Bowie's balls!"
Yes, it's immature. It's still funny. Kind of.

I too look forward to the day they open up iTunes australia to some actual content. They sell the Apple TV units here but you can't actually buy programs to put on it. That's just dumb.
I cannot buy stuff from the US iTunes store even thought I might want to because I am not (and don't ever want to be) a US citizen with a US postal address. That also seems dumb to me. I can buy or rent movies and cd's and music and audiobooks from other companies in the US and Europe and Australia - but just not from Apple. They seem to want to limit their market. Well, Apple seem to be doing ok anyway, and I'm sure they'll have an appropriate sounding reason. It's just annoying for the rest of us.
On the other hand, when Apple finally do switch on the rest of the store content down here in OZ (in the year 2345) there will be a glut of things for me to see, do and get. I'll wait, becuase there's no other choice.

if you want something from a foreign iTunes store, just get someone from that country to send you a prepaid card, and use a random address (if you actually need to provide one). don't have friends in the US? make some! this is the Internet.
