Engadget plays with iPhone 2.0
Our lucky friends at Engadget somehow got to play with the iPhone 1.2/2.0 beta (no word on if they'll send it along to Erica anytime soon), and they confirmed a lot of things we'd guessed at previously.
Exchange support works as smoothly as Scott and Mike had hoped, but there's still no two-pane Mail client. The multiple mail message selection works, however, and we finally found out why the Calculator button has changed -- apparently there are a ton of new features in there, including a sideways scientific calcalculator. There are a number of other fun features and improvements as well, although the main event, the App Store, only functions enough to give an error that it can't connect.
June can't come any faster, as far as we're concerned. Bring on the iPhone version 2.0!

Tuaw made the terrible decision to use a photo for the main article of an altered home screen that was changed using the new Parental Control feature.
With the new Parental Controls you can shut off YouTube, restrict being able to listen to explicit previews in itunes and restrict internet usage and all that.

i have to agree - the one thing that annoys me most is not being able to delete more than one email at a time. and to have a multi-paned email client would be so sweet!!!!

I wonder if there will be a hardware update to the iPhone in June to coincide with this release... It's gonna be tough to wait for June to find out.

do the parental controls allow for some kind of configuring like passwords, porn filters, ect., or is it just a straight on/off switch that completely disables the program. if the latter's the case, that kind of sucks. i plan on getting an ipod touch, but if the parental controls are just on off switches, i looks like all mi getting is a glorified ipod.

Can they at least give us a simple copy and paste feature?! Geez, this should have been available from the very beginning!

Don't know if anyone's already asked this, but does the 2.0 firmware support landscape mode texting? I'd love to be able to use the keyboard that way around (bit of a big thumbed person!)
