Are these the first screenshots of the iPhone AppStore?

One of our readers sent us in some screenshots of his iPhone showing what appears to be the anticipated iTunes AppStore. Could these pictures be the AppStore, or could it be some type of hack? It definitely looks legit to us! He says that after opening and closing the AppStore a couple of times and getting an "iTunes connection" error, it finally loaded some random AppStore pages.

We also got word from modmyifone.com that they got the same tip we did and are featuring the screenshots as well. That's two votes for legitimacy...

Thanks Aaron

As the owner of JouleData Solutions, all I can say is that we are not developing Checkers... I'd be interested in finding out where these screen shots originated from... thanks.

What does it matter? This isn't really news or even a worthwhile rumor. We know an app store i coming so what is the big deal here?

I saw on two other blogs this is totally fake. I guess using your "standard" of the confirmation of rumors (as in a total lack thereof), my noting this makes triple confirmation this is a complete fabrication.

you can get firmware 2.0 now? I thought it wasn't until July. Also, do we have any speculations on how much it'll cost for the iPod Touch?

It's legit!
Showing up on my legit 1.2 firmware.
It won't actually let me install the apps but they are showing up there.

What the hell does the 1.2 firmware have to do with this? The AppStore is only on 2.0, do you have any idea what we're talking about?

Wow.... TUAW readers are stupid. I'm surprised this post hasn't been removed or at least updated to reflect the fact that JouleData solutions have admitted to not creating an application called "Checkers" not to mention the laughability of the two apps that are showing up.

Brandon. You're an idiot. The new iPhone firmware is labelled as 1.2, not 2.0.

Look it up before making yourself look like a dickwad.
