Engadget snares next-gen iPhone pr0n
Why is it that our big sister Engadget always snares the great pre-release tidbits? Doesn't anyone want to scoop to us? Sure, we're littler. Sure, we're less well known. But we're fan-bois to the bone. Cut us and we bleed rainbow (and now styled silver).
That aside, Ryan "Da Man" Block found a source who got an advanced look at this slick sexy purported advanced unit. It's black, it's sleek and it just oozes iPhone-y goodness. According to Ryan's source, it will have 3G, proper GPS, a cool black finish and a non-recessed headphone jack. Check out all the deets at Engadget.
And think of us next time some advanced technology just happens to cross your path, won't you?
Update: Some of our readers suggest this "Next Gen iPhone" might be just a slight bit, er, shall we say, "photoshopped"? For realz? Or fake? Let us know what you think in the comments.

The rumor isn't over the picture, Engadget Mobile posted about that same picture over 3 weeks ago (http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/04/04/colorware-photoshop-or-iphone-2/), they were just reusing the picture to emphasize the "Next iPhone"-ness that they were talking about. The article is strictly to point out the new hardware specs.

The glossy black iPhone rumor is about as real as this one. http://www.iphonesavior.com/black-3g-iphone-2-leaked-photo.html
Or even the green Hulk iPhone version. Save the drama for the dali llama. http://www.iphonesavior.com/white-iphone-red-iphone-and-colors-2008.html
This a extremely old picture, it was proved that it was photo shopped months ago.
April 26 2008 at 11:00 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThe fact that it is still up at Engadget demonstrates that it is fake. If it were real it would have lasted 5 minutes before Apple legal pounced on them.
April 26 2008 at 9:46 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replydude, seriously LOOK AT IT.
closely.
you can see the line between the black and the silver. (find a bigger version)
Engadget isn't saying THAT's the new iPhone. They're just giving details and showing the old picture that's roughly similar to what they've heard.

I'm sure if was confirmed fake and it was just a black custom cover.
