What do the authors of Grand Theft Auto IV think about Apple users? Tossers. (Warning: definition link NSFW). They've embedded a brilliant Apple parody into one of the Internet cafe computers in the game.
Among other points, they take down Apple (called "Fruit") for being overpriced minimalism. A white shiny unit, superficially similar to the "i" sits next to a near-cinema display and readers are encouraged to "Think Fruit" and live in the Fruit Cocoon.
And if that's not enough, the site advertises a new banana-shaped iFruit phone. Its sales points made me laugh out loud: No buttons, no reception, no storage capacity, all Ego!
Kudos to GTAIV and thanks to Dylan Unutmaz for sending in the links.

This made my day. Even after seeing the Fruit's iPhone killer, I still want one :)

Doesn't it need to be funny in order to be considered a parody? It's unoriginal and boring. These guys are supposed to be creative and this is the best they could come up with?

Thank you everyone, especially you, si monyouraasshole, for your brilliantly written and cogent responses. I feel they warrant individual responses, so here I go:
si monyouraasshole: Take a remedial English class. Please. I am, however, touched that you bothered to try to insult me. Thank you. It's nice to know someone's thinking of me, even if it's in an uncomplimentary manner.
Mike Schramm: What? I don't like the parody so I hate the game and want game makers to be locked up? That's the most twisted, convoluted bit of logic I've seen outside of Harry Potter fandom. Bravo, sir. Bra-vo.
dastranger: Thanks for the advice, but GTA isn't my cup of tea. I like Quake a lot, and Deus Ex. I might give GTA a shot sometime though, just for kicks. Who knows, I might like it. I doubt that liking the game would make me think this was funny though.
Diego: What, I'm not entitled to my opinion?
Leon: *BWAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!* Me? A FANBOY? Dude, I'm anything BUT a fanboy. Try looking at my comment history sometime.
Your opinions are your own, and you are welcome to them, and I'm entitled to my own. And it's my considered opinion that you're all a bunch of tossers. Oops, "to$$ers".
Have a LOVELY evening! :)

Simon's right. Usually I'm the first guy to have a chuckle at this kind of thing, but it's just not funny. Where's the originality?

I'm sorry that it hurts your feelings when Apple products are parodied. Nothing worse than hurt feelings.

@MoonMan - hurt feelings? Who said anything about hurt feelings. I thought it wasn't funny. I guess I was wrong about that. Silly me, thinking I could hold and express an opinion without ad hominem attacks. What WAS I thinking?

Parody (n) - an imitation of the style of a particular writer, artist or genre with deliberate exaggeration for comic effect : the movie is a parody of the horror genre
• an imitation or a version of something that falls far short of the real thing; a travesty : he seems like a parody of an educated Englishman.
So it is a parody, but yes, it is kind of boring and unoriginal. FoxTrot has had iFruits for a while. Lots of other different things including TV shows make a parody on Apple's iStuff. Nickelodeon even uses actual Apple computers but puts some other logo on them for some of their shows.

This is especially funny considering that Rockstar probably has a mostly Mac office. Also, their branding in New York City is much more obnoxious than even Apple.

Just to clear it up, in the GTA world To$$ers (similar to "Micro$oft) use the "Technical Operating System" or TOS (DOS, anyone?) Fruit users are called Fruitheads or Fruits (I don't exactly remember which and my PSP is not working correctly so I can't find out for sure). Like always, the guys at GTA are just out to parody and insult every single aspect of modern life. I haven't played GTA IV, but I loved all the other GTA games.

I like Apple, but this is damn funny and true. Reminds me of the days of Maibatsu Thunder: The power of a compact. I always liked their originality and humor. :)

How about the Maibatsu Monstrosity? I personally hate SUVs which is probably why I consider the commercials for the Monstrosity one of the best parodies in GTA.

Does anyone know if Chatterbox is back in GTA IV? I listen to Chatterbox for hours on end whenever I play GTA III (yes, I know that the Chatterbox loop is only about an hour long).
Even more impressive than how GTA is able to equally insult everyone is the fact that in all of their games they have made a flawless line of continuity, even though they are released out of chronological order. The games even have hidden references to each other throughout the series. I may hate Microsoft, but I really wish I had an Xbox 360 right now...
