TUAW preview: Schmap for iPhone & iPod Touch
Planning some activities out on the town this weekend, or searching for a Mother's Day dining option? The fine folks at Schmap have a treat for you -- they'd like TUAW readers to have the first whack at their new iPhone City Guides and Local Search before the Mobile Safari-optimized site goes into official beta on Monday, May 12. Point Safari on your iPhone or iPod Touch to www.schmap.com, then enter the pre-launch preview access code: 724627. Once you're in the site, pull up a Schmap Guide for your favorite city for info, maps, and more. Some of the search features aren't wired in yet, but they should be done soon.
Schmap's website has several Flash demos of the features of the Schmap Guides for iPhone. Check it out!
Thanks to Donald at Schmap for the invitation, and Kyle for the tip.

One thing I learned: don't press the back button or you're screwed :p

No listings for the 10th most populous state in the US, North Carolina? What, we don't eat out or something?

I noticed that to! Schmaps, add at least 1 city in every state.

Nice one, I hope they cover other countries like Japan, Korea, Thailand, Singapore soon too. :)
For now, this will come in handy when I'm out in London.

I've been wondering when someone would build a site with a 100% different layout between body[orient="landscape"] and body[orient="portrait"]. Pretty cool concept. They even bothered to put in the little footnote for "use two fingers to scroll." I'd say they'll be a hit.

If you are trying to use this on the go, the access code is schmap on the number pad. (Maybe that was obvious to others but I was working out my own code when I noticed it.)
