Sync your iPhone's music library in Linux, the wireless way

Linux users are a bit left out in the cold when it comes to the iPhone, but if you're a Linux user who wants to sync your music library with your iPhone, Lifehacker's got a tutorial on how to do just that. Video syncing seems to work as well, but images are apparently a little idiosyncratic.

You'll have to jailbreak your iPhone using ZiPhone, and the actual steps involved seem fairly involved...but hey, if you're a Linux user, you're probably cool with both fairly involved technical tweaking and voiding warranties.

Go forth, brave adventurer.

Come on people, lay off this guy. Where is it written that a blog has to be infallible? Y'all get your panties in a twist when someone makes a grammatical error, or says something that you don't think is funny. I understand posting corrections about facts and such, but for correcting someone's grammar, go easy on 'em. All it takes is a quick little "Hey, that's not the right word to use there" or something like that. No need to berate someone for an unintentional mistake. And for those of you that pull the "They're supposed to be professional" card, chill the freak out. Last time I checked this was a free website. If you want to get angry at a publication you pay for because they make mistakes, that's your call, but these people are GIVING you a service. Free. It don't get cheaper than free.

As far as the article, if you ass-hats would take the time to follow the link to the guide, you would see that LifeHacker suggests using ZiPhone. Makes sense that he would add in a link for it in the blog, so if you have a problem with ZiPhone, take your bitching over to LifeHacker. Also, I really don't see how this is a jab at linux users. A playful jest maybe, but seriously it wasn't an absolute statement, so don't take it as one.

Maybe this functionality will come with the Iphone 2.0 software too? It includes bonjour, which would allow your phone to easily contact your pc via wifi and autosync wirelessly.

Of course, given the batterly life, you'd better dock it anyway.

Uhm, Mr. Joshua Ellis, I'm sure others have noticed this as well, but... are you on your period? Your posts/blogs as of late seem cranky and are jabs at particular end users. Whether it be your blog about Facebook being the "hangout for emo kids", or this unnecessary jab at Linux users (one of which I am not), I don't think your comments were necessary at all, and they clearly were NOT thought out.

Perhaps you need to do a little growing up, or stop "trying" to be humorous when you can't be.

Am I the only one offended by his posts lately?

P.S. And I know you're new here... but that's just not the way news is done around here, man. Sorry.

Edmund: lighten up. I'm a Linux user.

Z00L: Yes, my head is in the sand, because I secretly wrote the Lifehacker post which said that you needed to use Ziphone. I write ALL the blog entries. Everywhere.

Mr. Joshua

You could at least take your head out of the sand and not advertise Zicrap like if it were the only way to jailbreak the iPhone...

I second that, how about not promoting a piece of stolen software.

"if you're a Linux user, you're probably cool with...voiding warranties. "

Um, no. Linux is about freedom FROM restrictive DRM and warranties, not about breaking anything. Please don't bash linux users without knowing your facts.
