John Mayer found cheating on Apple, again
John Mayer has been closely related with Apple for years. He has played after multiple keynotes and he got his MacBook Air earlier than anyone else. I wonder how Apple feels about his latest blog posting? Yeah, that's right, his new cell phone is a... erm, how should I put this nicely... a Blackberry? Seriously, John, did you ever even consider that your friend Steve might give you an iPhone? We first noted John's two-timing tech ways when Blackberry/RIM sponsored his concert tour in the summer of 2007, but we always held out hope that his heart was in the right place. So much for our shattered popstar dreams.

One of another seemingly endless generic pop stars that have become more famous for who they hang around with rather than the quality of their music.

John Mayer isn't just a "pop star" and he certainly isn't famous just for who he has dated... While most lame pop artists are overproduced hacks who buy the coolest song they can try to preform Mayer writes his stuff, and has the musical talent to back it up. I hadn't heard much of him until I stumbled upon him playing at Buddy Guy's Legends blues bar in Chicago.... the guy has got some chops and can hold his own..... just because he is young and played on mainstream radio doesn't me he has no talent.
The only thing I have issue with is his narcissistic obsession with blogging and sharing his life with the internet... but I feel that way about anyone who blogs, celebrity or not.

as ive said before, he's a total douche who writes corny pop songs. Sure he can play the guitar, but I haven't actually heard a song where he's put it to good use. The only time ive heard him play well is when he's emulating others. That said who cares if he uses a blackberry?

He's always been a douche in my eyes anyway.
Very full of himself and aloof.

I once saw Mayer play crossroads with eric Clapton. Clapton owned him without trying. It was hilarious.
harrywolf said 10:50AM on 5-16-2008
Not a fair contest - Clapton has played 'Crossroads' 7,899,354,876 times.
David said 11:00AM on 5-16-2008
You're right. Why isn't he using an iPhone?
Thomas said 1:45PM on 5-16-2008
I don't think John Mayer will be losing much sleep about not being as good a player as Clapton anyway. I mean, it's not as if Clapton is crap. Oh no, I'm not as good as a musical legend, how can I go on?!
harrywolf said 11:06AM on 5-16-2008
Just watched the video - Mayer could not match Clapton's tone or chops - he tries to turn everything into 'blues-lite'.
He doesnt appear to have the cojones.
Peter Green was the best, of course.

What has he done lately? Seriously, unless he's had some major popular release that I missed, John Mayer is kind of yesterday. Therefore, who cares?

No kidding. The iPhone is a very nice bit of tech, but it has the same problem that Mac products have had for years (and have gradually shed): it doesn't play nice with others. With smartphones it's frequently more about what other software you can get with the device (whether Palm, Windows Mobile, or Blackberry) rather than just what comes on it. Until developers have had a year or two to develop for it, it will remain what it is now: a nice tech toy that's not that practical for large part of its demographic.

@ Grog.
WTF? 'play nice with others'? Who are you, Steve Ballmers butler?
The lousy software available for these crappy phones cant be seen on the tiny screen, for fricks sake.
The reason the iPhone is such a stunningly good device is because it isnt ANYTHING like all the unadulterated crap and GARBAGE that have been mobile phones for the last ten years.
I have little patience with half-assed, 'kinda critical, kinda not' posts like yours.
Nice, while stabbing Apple in the back.
I hope this reply was as unequivocal as I could make it.
