TeliaSonera bringing iPhone to Nordic and Baltic markets

To our friends living in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia: welcome to the growing pack of iPhone-serviced countries! Telecom provider TeliaSonera just signed an agreement to bring the iPhone to these countries just in time for the (rumored) announcement of the 3G iPhone.

Apple is definitely spreading the love (and the exclusive carrier contracts) far and wide. I'm not even sure anymore which countries don't have service, presently or forthcoming, but I did get terrible grades in geography. Fortunately, our commenters will be sure to make up for my cartographic shortcomings.

Thanks, Olk, Mattias, Jari, Johan, Borger, Undero and everyone else who sent this in!

So, does the Netherlands win a prize if we are the LAST country to get the iPhone? It sure feels like that's the case.
Honestly, if that situation doesn't change in the next month I'm gonna get mine in the US and just hack the damn thing.
Besides it would be cheaper to buy in the US anyway with the exchange rate.

Man... Telia is the worst carrier in Sweden. They still don't have a good data plan. I will propably get an unlocked 3G iphone and use with 3.

Woohoo! This is great! Estonia is covered with 7.2Mbps 3.5G and now the waiting game begins :)

Thailand, too.

Insane that's it's not coming yet, since young people here are Apple crazy. There's iMacs in the Wawee coffee shop chain and iPods in every mall electronics store. Even little mom n pop shops sell iPod cases and accessories.

So where is the iPhone agreement?! Please God, please!

I seriously doubt that consumer advocacy groups will allow exclusivity for long in the Nordic countries, at least.

I think also that we will see subsidized phones relatively soon after launch (within 6 months, if not right away). Especially if Apple delivers on business phone features such as push email. There is more smartphone saturation in the Nordic countries than just about anywhere else, save perhaps Japan.

No service in Russia. Though it seems everyone here already has a hacked iPhone. Apparently 200,000 in Moscow alone. They sell them in stores - pre-hacked. Even the president has one.

Are you sure the president has one? I would love to see a story on that.

I've read at nu.nl that that KPN.nl is talks with Apple about introducing the iPhone in the Netherlands!!!!! Finally... But there not saying if is an exclusive agreement or not, so T-mobile and Vodafone still may also sell it here.. http://tinyurl.com/4pftpm if you need help translating, let me know..

Belgium is not on the list neither :-(( Despite some hints that Mobistar would get a temporary exclusivity on the new iphone.

Sniff, Sniff from Japan. If Docomo doesn't wrap this thing up and get me the iPhone, I'm moving back to America!

I guess I can see that it lacks alot that Japanese phones have, but I'm sure they can port some of their apps over with the SDK.

The agreement is not exclusive! Telenor is still in the game.
