Multitouch, multiscreen iPod touch Pong

Oh my. Still need convincing that the iPhone/iPod touch is the greatest gaming platform ever made? Then check this video of a couple Japanese researchers playing a game they claim to have put together "in about an hour": multiscreen, touch-based Pong.

On first glance, it looks like the game is even checking orientation of the iPods, but if you watch it a little further, when things go faster, you can see that it's actually just pushing the ball from screen to screen as it leaves. Still, if nothing else, a quick demo like this shows that multiple Touches (via a certain website, or on the same WiFi network, maybe, or -- hopefully -- just in close proximity to one another through Bluetooth or another protocol) can easily be made to connect multiplayer gamers.

As a demo, very nice (and it seems fun as a game as well). Can't wait to see a full-featured game that takes advantage of all of the iPhone's connectivity options.

Ok, that's kinda cool. But last month I was in the pub and my friend pulled out his jailbroken iPhone and we played Pong, but it was 2 player on the same iPhone, we each held one end of the iPhone, one finger each, and it used the accelerometer... if you tilted the phone towards your opponent (holding the other end of the same phone!) the ball would go faster. It made for some frantic pong action and was loads of fun :)

I wish there atleast one company out there that makes a joystick kinda hardware that can be attached to both ends of an iphone connectible via bluetooth/Wifi to enhance the gaming capability of iPhone. This combination of the normal joystick and the accelerometer in a device will be the best portable gaming device I can ever see.

yet another definition of multitouch - multi-people-screen-touch

I agree it would have been amazing if the ball actually moved onto the next screen based on the angle from the accelerometer.
