RIftVault - Spawn of Yojimbo and Delicious Library?

RiftVault

A lot of my clients use Yojimbo to securely store their credit card numbers, passwords, and other information. I use it, too, but find it to be a somewhat drab application. On the other hand, Delicious Library is attractive and fun to use, but it isn't really something you'd want to use to store private info. If these two apps mated and had a love child, it would probably look and act a lot like RiftVault.

RiftVault is a new Leopard-only secure vault application from EdgeRift that is currently available in a pre-release version. It looks mahvelous and features 256-bit AES encryption to keep your private stuff from prying eyes. You can store credit card info, frequent flyer account data, passwords, insurance information, or short notes that you don't want to make public. Any document can be dragged into the Safe Deposit Box to be compressed and encrypted. Up to 2 GB of items can be stored in the Safe Deposit Box.

Sound interesting? Download RiftVault for free during the pre-release period, and/or pre-order the release version for $33 -- 33% off of the $49 retail price.

THis wins the category "Pimp MY Software".
and if you go to preferences you can even increment the visual effects level... (I didn't see any difference).
It's a good idea, but somewhat badly implemented.

I'm not downloading anything after looking at the screenshot. What the hell were they thinking? It's such a bad mash-up of all sorts of different GUI effects.

I just downloaded it and tried it. It's very promising.

I like the idea of strong encryption for security and I really like the flexibility of dropping any file I want to keep safe.

I suspect that some of the complainers above have not even tried this app. It's a beta release but it looks like a fine start.

I always have a nagging feeling when viewing similar programs: ´what an excellent way to go phishing.´ You get thousands of credit card numbers etc.

Hm... I am not sure you understand how this works - it's an application for personal use. Surely you don't think any one individual or a family has "thousands" of credit cards!! But that's beside the point - security is the point.

As far as security goes, AES Encryption is what the US government has chosen for protecting sensitive information. It has been chosen as the golden standard by the National Security Agency. IBM uses it. The list goes on and on. Check out Wikipedia on AES.

I'm going to get a 3G iPhone whenever it comes out, and I'm wondering what I can use for a password app that syncs between my desktop and phone, like I've had for Palm and Windows Mobile. Are there any that currently work on iPhones (jailbroken, I assume)? I hope there will be one soon when the app store is ready.

Not even a close comparison to Together or Yojimbo. I understand it is a beta but it is seriously lacking.

Has anyone heard of "cardspace" the so called 4th pillar of Vista? as a techie - the platform and security infrastructure looks great, provides an abstraction so that openID works with it also...

if you have vista, let me know what you think, type "CARDSPACE" into the start menu...only a few demo sites using it... not sure why MS aren't pushing it.....

I just got Delicious Library 2.0 and I like it. It's my new trophy case (to go). I can store my (GI) Joes there and DVDs and whatever. I never planned as using it to store all kinds of personal data and stuff. I'll look into the 1Password program though. RiftVault does look radio active...

As already pointed out, this app is useless, and VERY UGLY. Not sure what the poster was thinking.
