A lot of my clients use Yojimbo to securely store their credit card numbers, passwords, and other information. I use it, too, but find it to be a somewhat drab application. On the other hand, Delicious Library is attractive and fun to use, but it isn't really something you'd want to use to store private info. If these two apps mated and had a love child, it would probably look and act a lot like RiftVault.
RiftVault is a new Leopard-only secure vault application from EdgeRift that is currently available in a pre-release version. It looks mahvelous and features 256-bit AES encryption to keep your private stuff from prying eyes. You can store credit card info, frequent flyer account data, passwords, insurance information, or short notes that you don't want to make public. Any document can be dragged into the Safe Deposit Box to be compressed and encrypted. Up to 2 GB of items can be stored in the Safe Deposit Box.
Sound interesting? Download RiftVault for free during the pre-release period, and/or pre-order the release version for $33 -- 33% off of the $49 retail price.

Downloaded and tried it out. Mahvelous? More like hideous. If ever there was an app that deserved scorn for putting style over substance, this is it. I'll stick w/ Wallet, which does the same thing, isn't overly goudy, and costs about $25 less, thankyouverymuch.

Agreed. You can't even create your own kind of entry in this mess. True, Wallet isn't terribly flashy, but it does stick to a very Mac aesthetic. I get the feeling this thing was thrown together very quickly to appeal to Delicious Library owners.
What happens if I want to keep my Serial Numbers for my electronics? Or registration numbers for apps I've purchased? Wireless network keys? Email account servers and logins? Car VIN numbers? Social security numbers? I've got all of that and more in Wallet. Apparently the makers of this software think we've only got five kinds of secure information, and THAT'S IT!
Final Note:
It certainly sounds like they stole the sound effects from the login window from Star Trek. Am I the only one hearing this?

It is nice looking application. But personally I would never use a closed source encryption product (especially one from the US). You never know if there are any backdoors.
When it comes to encryption products, open source is the way to go such as KeePassX or TrueCrypt. They may not look as nice but they are secure and free.

Enough with the DL comments. Until TUAW has the integrity and th balls to review competing products to DL then shut it already with your lovefest for a marginal app.

Hear! Hear! I tried DL when it first appeared, and it struck me as very cludgy. The new "iSight" scanner has been in the Pedias for a while now. Only someone who keeps their Finder windows in icon mode would like the inyerface of DL.

I just got Delicious Library 2.0 and I like it. It's my new trophy case (to go). I can store my (GI) Joes there and DVDs and whatever. I never planned as using it to store all kinds of personal data and stuff. I'll look into the 1Password program though. RiftVault does look radio active...

Has anyone heard of "cardspace" the so called 4th pillar of Vista? as a techie - the platform and security infrastructure looks great, provides an abstraction so that openID works with it also...
if you have vista, let me know what you think, type "CARDSPACE" into the start menu...only a few demo sites using it... not sure why MS aren't pushing it.....

Not even a close comparison to Together or Yojimbo. I understand it is a beta but it is seriously lacking.

I'm going to get a 3G iPhone whenever it comes out, and I'm wondering what I can use for a password app that syncs between my desktop and phone, like I've had for Palm and Windows Mobile. Are there any that currently work on iPhones (jailbroken, I assume)? I hope there will be one soon when the app store is ready.

1password will do just that! It creates a special bookmark for mobile safari AND it works with Keychain Access so it syncs via .mac.

I should probably specify that I'm not just talking about logins, but all private info like credit card numbers, bank info etc. Can 1password store that too?
