White 16 gig iPhone

Personally, I think the white one is pretty snazzy (to borrow a word from Steve). What say you? Sound off in the comments.

Would have preferred a white front too.

My thoughts exactly. I've seen a skin which includes a white front and it looks so sexy. Why they stopped short of white front sections I have no idea.
I was tempted by the white one, just to be a bit different from everyone else. But I think the black version looks better.

not a fan of the white or the black particularly. I liked the metal backs but with the current choices I much prefer black to white, i think the white looks kind of tacky but that's just my opinion.

You do realize the 1st Gen iPhone's back wasn't metal, right?
totoro said 4:10PM on 6-09-2008
uh..wha?
Billy K said 4:15PM on 6-09-2008
It's composite plastic (painted silver). The only metal part is the chrome ring.

I know the topic of back case material has come up before. From what I've read and seen on my own iPhone, the consensus from many people opening their iPhones and bending that back plate is that it is indeed bead-blasted, satin finished aluminum, just like on macbook pros.

After walking into a turnstile which decided not to turn I can tell you that it sure dents like metal.

"It's amazingly zippy"...
Maybe "zippy" is faster than snappy...
White.... nope - I prefer the black.
White will never be the new black for me.

I miss my metal cased obsolete iPhone EDGE already. Sure its environmentally unfriendly, but... I'm an American. I just worried about all the scratchiness my new phone will have to endure with my big SUV keys and max'd-out credit cards in my skin tight pants pocket wrapped around my McDonald's eating fanny.

Gold...

Needs more zazz.
Actually, I like it. This is the one I'll be buying. But I'm a bit confused. Hardly any Apple products sport white plastic any more. iMacs and iPods have all moved to black and aluminium. White plastic looks so 3-years-ago.
I mean, I like it, but it really doesn't fit in with their product matrix.

Black is gonna be a bitch for finger prints.

The white one is definitely pretty, much respect, but I'm fairly partial to the black model. But ultimately, it won't matter, because the next one I'm getting is going to have one hell of a nice-ass silicon sleeve.
I dropped my iPhone 1 yesterday and now it's permanently bricked... Never making that mistake again.

I prefer the white it's much classier and more futuristic looking. If anything in tech is waaay overdone at this point, it's "shiny black everything." Polls show that about 3/4 like black and 1/4 prefers white given a choice, and I like the idea of being in a minority in this case. Add to that the fact that the black iPhone is the "cheap" iPhone, and it just makes me feel even better about preferring white.
I am on the other hand fairly disappointed overall with the iPhone 3G. No zirconia back (plastic!), no video conferencing, and Jobs didn't even *mention* taking video. So even if there are third party video apps, (almost a certainty) it's clear that the quality will be fairly p*ss-poor or Apple would have put it in the OS software themselves.
Given that I am in Canada and would have to deal with the immoral, money-grubbing Rogers to even own one, I might even wait for iPhone v3, next year.

I'm really disappointed in the lack of any kind of camera flash. I wish the camera was useful for something other than taking snaps of daisies at noon.
