White 16 gig iPhone

I'm a bit confused as to why Apple would make a white iPhone. Weren't they moving AWAY from white plastic? iPods have changed to aluminum and are no longer white, and the new iMacs are aluminum and not white. I would think the iPhone should be aluminum, too. I think an alu iPhone would look very sexy.

ok, i gotta say that you people are somewhat wrong about scratches in white...when you get scratches it makes slight indentations that dirt and other shit will get into and make the scratches a lot more noticeable on a white surface....on black they are noticeable but mostly only in the reflections

one more thing, i will turn you guys onto something, it's a compound by a company called novus, comes in three option...heavy scratches, light scratches, and polish. it works really well. just rub it in circles and it gets most scratches out , does nothing to the color, or material.

I was going to get the black iPhone, right up until the day I was in line at the Apple Store, but then I saw this guy come out with a white one, it looked so sexy and sleek, so at this point I definitely don't regret getting the white iPhone.

The white iphone 3g is the way to go. It does not show fingerprints (the black model looks gross and slimy after handling it for 2 min). Its also classic mac. In regards to the screen being black on the front, they just didn't make a screen with white trim. Considering that they are using the same basic hardware for the screen as the first gen iphone, it stands to reason that they would save money by keeping it black, not change the production line to include white. As previous bloggers have pointed out, most people get a case anyway, in which case you can't even tell what color their iphone is.

I'm glad to see a few other people commented on the disjointed look on the white. The white i beautiful, i have always hoped apple would still with the classic "apple white" because you always recognize the product, wheras the silver looks like most other computers at first glance. The black front almost makes it look like they kept the body style just because they had a lot left, and changed the casing on the back. i am utterly let down, i want the white but it looks so tacky with the black front...... crushed

DYI 32GB iphone (3G)? Dunno how similar the iphone and the itouch is but could you take the 32gb HD out of an itouch (or find some other way to get your hands on a 32gb hd that fits an itouch/iphone?)and swap it in to a 16gb iphone? maybe even the new iphone 3g???

This might have to be post July 11 endeavor or has apple released enough spec to see if this is even possible? I know this would be costly and Jobs and Co would be all "NO WARRANTY FOR YOU!" but just an idea...

Iconic white for me, please. I just think it a shame that the iPod itself isn't available in white any more.
