OmniFocus for iPhone will be location-aware
Guy-I-wish-was-my-friend Merlin Mann writes at 43 Folders about OmniFocus for iPhone, a project he's involved with. Perhaps the most exciting new feature is the fact that OmniFocus will be location-aware.
OmniGroup says that by "using your location, OmniFocus can create a custom list of actions to complete nearby. Buying groceries? OmniFocus can show you the closest grocery store and create an instant shopping list."
Pretty sweet. OmniGroup expects that OmniFocus for iPhone will be available via the App Store around the launch date in early July.

... and, knowing the Omni Group, the iPhone app will cost something like $69.99.

...but be worth every nickel.
Seriously, though -- I've been an OF user since the sneaky peek days, and the care they put into the application is why they're able to charge what they do. I tried a lot of different GTD apps, paid for a couple, but OF is what I use.
You know that "hmm, it would make sense if this worked this way -- hey, it does!" feeling you get working with Apple apps? Same thing with OF. Drag an email from Mail into the notes section of a project so you can remember the email that started that project? It becomes a link; file away the email out of your inbox, and you're good to go.
They're going to charge some bucks for the work that they've put in to making iPhone OF sync with the data on your desktop OF. Sync is hard.

I was in on the OmniFocus sneaky-peak, too -- and I really wanted to like it, but it's cluttered, rigid, and ugly.
I dropped it like a hot potato, the moment I found Things: http://culturedcode.com/things/
(And yes, they're working on an iphone version, too: )

(The link to the iPhone version of Things was omitted from my previous post.)

Makes me wonder how I ever managed to get my grocery shopping done without this....

I must say this sounds VERY promising, I just hope it won't be USA-location-specific only ;)

Well...GPS only works in the United States...just kidding, but I'm sure there are some people that think that!

GPS will work but this needs a database of grocery stores and whatever other stores it supports. To cover the entire world would make it pretty big - if such data is even available.

i would really be interested in an app like this, but only sub-$9.99. nothing more, cause its a mobile app, I'm a student, and...well...i'm cheap.

One thing I am interested in is how iphone apps will interact with their mac counterparts. Apple has made no mention of a way for 3rd party iphone apps to sync with mac apps.

I can't speak for other apps out there, but OmniFocus on the iPhone/iPod touch syncs with the OmniFocus on your Mac via .Mac or WebDAV.

Seems like a good thing to me. I don't have the iphone but plan to get one now that they are 3G. One thing missing from the sync'ing I can see, and need, is tasks and or notes, as I use the GTD method with Mac Mail & To do's described by Dennis best (http://dennisbest.org/simple_leopard_gtd) It seems like a must to have it or similar available for the iphone? Ideas anyone?
Cheers

But will it do the reverse and remind you to do things when you're in particular places? E.g. you walk past a shop and it reminds you to buy some milk :)
