Opera 9.5 now available
With a passionate seven-tenths of a percent of the worldwide market, Opera software has released version 9.5 of its eponymous web browser.
Opera 9.5 introduces synchronization of bookmarks with Opera Link, a new developer tool called Opera Dragonfly, improved Fraud Protection, and a significantly altered set of keyboard shortcuts.
The browser scores an 83 (out of a possible 100) on the Acid3 Test.
Opera 9.5 is a free download, and is 15.6 MB.

Are there any browsers that pass Acid3 100%?

Yeah, it does; the Opera betas do, as well.

yeah the safari 4 aka the WebKit nightly build.
100/100 and very smooth.

Wonder what this test is based on. I take it for absolutely nothing, since the site is totally lacking of any information whatsoever as to what exactly this "tests". For all I know it's programmed to work on this guy's favorite browser and no others...

And you call yourself a nerd. Sheesh.
LuminousNerd said 6:15PM on 6-13-2008
Yeah, I'm sorry if I don't just take Joe Blow's random website and call it fact. I must be pretty messed up. I'm so sorry.

Research is your friend imbecile. Seriously, youre making a fool of yourself.

If refusing to blindly follow what a web page says makes me a fool, so be it. Personally, that seems a bit backwards, but who am I to judge?

But tell me, is it still ugly as sin?
There is just no excuse for browser chrome that ugly. Not to mention the horrible and irrevocable placing of the tab bar.

I agree; Opera was a pretty nasty looking browser. I'll have to check it out and see if it's changed (can only hope, right?).

yeah, they changed the default mac skin with 9.5

The look of the browser has been updated for the other OSs too, with clean lines and clear icons.
(Disclaimer: I work for Opera.)

I have to say that i absolutely love Opera and have been using it as my main browser for the last 5-6 years. I'm using it on both Mac and Windows and it works really well. 9.5 has some new looks and seems to be even faster than before, which was no slouch either. I especially like how fast Opera is when you go one page back. I mean, back then when i was on Windows and using IE, it used to take forever to go forward, or back, but with Opera it zipps back and forth really quickly!! That is for me very important if i surf the web and jump form page to page, back and forth. Been in love ever since! I use 98% Opera, 1,9% FF and 0,1% Safari (Yuck!)
Oh well, each for their own!!:-)

Am I the only one that noticed that the hi-lights on the "O" are seriously off? It makes it look like a cylinder on an angle instead of a flat "O." How is it that they didn't check that before release?
The shadow is wrong also (to be pickier still)

LOL, I was going to post exactly that. The reflections on the 'O' make it look as though the left half is bent toward the viewer, while the right half is bet away from the viewer. And apparently the 'O' has magical bevels that are opaque from our perspective, yet transparent from the far side.

Opera is totally the little company that could. I have nothing but respect for them. Only thing I wish is that the OS X version was a bit more... OS X. It only it felt like it was more a part of the eco-system, ya know?
On Windows however, it's the very first thing I install. Firefox can shove it.
I hope they continue to keep up the hard work though, they do make a great web browser.
