Qik to offer streaming for iPhone users

Qik is making sure that Flixwagon doesn't beat them at their own game. Video streaming from mobile devices has quickly become very popular, and Mashable has a video that Qik sent them in which they demo their soon-to-be-in-alpha release of Qik for the iPhone.

Currently, Qik streams from devices like the Nokia N95. An iPhone app would certainly boost their user base and service as a whole.

Looks like it works in the UK to me. It's only 10 second videos anyway so ads wouldn't make any sense.

Qik in the US us a full service for as long as you can go is my understanding as both Kevin Rose and Cali Lewis use this far beyond 10 seconds.

Will this be an "official" app? If so, won't the iPhone have to be able to record video "officially"?

I dunno about being official. I thought a part of being certified is not having a bandwidth hungry app like Qik or Slingplayer.

Wonder what the latency is over edge?

I don't think you can upload video on an edge connection...

This is great. I've been waiting for them to release an iPhone client.
