It's About Time!

- Clickers -- like most TUAW readers; people who take any application, click buttons and menus, and learn the app themselves
- Non-clickers -- people who think they'll break something if they click or tap a button
- Middle -- people who need some assistance in getting started in learning an application
Rather than a typical "watch what I'm doing" screencast, It's About Time to learn iPhone uses a click-to-learn approach. You watch Saied demonstrate how to use an iPhone function, and then use the virtual iPhone to practice what you've seen.
The app has online notes so you don't have to write your own, and a full list of tips and tricks. Automatic updates are also part of the program, which works on Macs and PCs.
Note to self: buy this for Dad.

At Macworld Expo in January, I talked to a guy at a booth who was demoing a hands-on iPhone training product. The developer, Saied...

Did anyone but me notice that the TUAW scroll bug in Firefox has been fixed?
I can stop using other non-FF browsers when I want to read TUAW.
Good news.
Gee, three types of people... those that learn apps, those that dont, and those that are in the middle. Wow, that is the most enlightened intelligent well thought out and well rounded statement I have ever heard. What a fracking genius. Way to cover your bases asshole. Thats like saying, "I have made a momentous discovery about cars. At any one time in the world, there are those that are moving, and those that are not."

⢠Step 2: Touch it.
⢠Step 3: Buy our new video series, "How to wipe your own arse."
Trust me. There are people out there who need help with even the simplest applications...

June 18 2008 at 9:15 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWhat I would like ot see is something I can send my Mom (still on Windows) so she won't be so scared of switching.
I already warned her that her next machine will be a Mac. She went the PC route with her current laptop (even though I offered ot pony up the price difference), and now laments the fixing it needs every two months ot keep it from boggin down.
These demos look good for a Mom-type Mac user, but I need to ease her into it before she has a Mac.
I also worked at Apple with this guy, and he was just as much of an annoying prick. Total asshole who worshipped at the altar of Jobs and was blind to any Apple shortcomings.
His instructional videos are also total shit.
So, it's basically Video Professor for learning the iPhone.
June 18 2008 at 6:44 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyUgh. I used to work for Apple and there were TONS of .Mac/Apple Care-selling videos with this guy. His attempt to mimic Jobs during instruction was just terrible. Also, good job finding a market that isn't already as over saturated as it is.
