iPhone App News Roundup: June 19, 2008

iPhone RoundupYeehhhhaaawww! It's time for the (almost) daily TUAW iPhone App News Roundup!
  • SplashData, a longtime and very popular developer for Windows Mobile and Palm, is bringing the SplashID (secure information manager), SplashShopper (list organizer), and SplashMoney (personal banking manager) apps to iPhone.
  • Fiery Ferret, AKA Bridger Maxwell, has ported his shareware game Lumen to iPhone. The iPhone version has access to 1,200 user-submitted puzzles.
  • MobileAge is readying Blackjack 21 and touchTile Mahjong for iPhone and iPod touch.
  • Hey Mac Software will soon let you move data between Macs by transferring files to and from your iPhone wirelessly. Briefcase is the name of this program, expected in the Fall.
  • Like Things, the task manager from Cultured Code? Think of Things touch on your iPhone or iPod touch. Nice.
  • MyMote is an open-source iPhone application designed to provide remote functionality for Mythtv front ends. What's Mythtv? An app to turn Linux computers into a Tivo-like DVR.
  • Tebeka Software Developments is porting Pocket Luach to the iPhone. Pocket Luach is a Windows Mobile application that allows users to browse a Jewish calendar, create and manage Jewish events (wedding dates, Bar Mitzvahs...), and do date conversions between Jewish and civil dates.
If you have an iPhone app that's on its way to the App Store, let us know about it.

I'd like to see an Awaken application from Embraceware. I'd like to be able to use my iPhone/Touch as an Alarm clock that allows me to wake up to the music I want to.

I've yet to be wow'd by any of the Apps yet. Thus far I like the AOL Radio, but so far they lack some AM Talk Radio stations I'd like to get, something that has C2CAM would be nice. I wonder if Flytunes will move to the SDK or have a dual service, web and dedicated app.

Mobilechat is moving away from the Jailbreak and onto the SDK, that's good.

One thing I would really pay for is a PGP or GPG plugin for the Mail.app. The lack of it is the one thing that keeps me from using mail on my iPhone.

Not that I don't already read TUAW everyday, but this makes for something exciting!! It really promotes the new 2.0 software and is going to get everyone else excited!! Plus it's free advertising for all developers!!

Good job, TUAW

Awesome stuff!
The top info I have been trying to dig out of the muck of the internets is what apps will be available for the iPhone!

(That and trying to find any scrap of official iPhone info from AT&T as far as upgrade pricing and actually acknowledging it's existance on their site...still not a whisper when you can practically order it on other provider's sites...)

Keep the updates coming! :-)

Daily app roundup news would be great. All of the developer apps are probably the single thing I'm most excited about with my new phone.

I'm so glad to see SplashID coming to the iPhone. My personal needs are for business-related and data management oriented apps, not games or multimedia.

I applaud all the publishers who are bringing their apps to the iPhone, but what benefits me most are apps that make the iPhone more able to replace a laptop computer for me.
