Apple posts iPhone 3G Guided Tour

Apple just posted a guided tour for the new iPhone 3G. In the video, our old friend Bob from the original iPhone walkthrough covers "What's new in the iPhone 3G" and the iPhone 2.0 software update.

The iPhone 3G isn't due out until July 11th, but it looks like Apple is, once again, trying to start up the hype train. You can watch the video by heading over to Apple's iPhone website.

Thanks, Justin!

Why can't he just say 2-point-o, instead of 2-dot-zero? It's really bugging me.

Ignore last comment, auto-fill doesn't like me.

What I MEANT to say was: Even though it is relatively insignificant, I am looking forward to the CAPS LOCK feature.

Caps lock has been in since 1.1.3 I believe. Maybe even 1.1.1

Whenever they added the two spaces = period shortcut.

Thanks! I had no idea - caps lock never worked for me, but I just dug through the settings and noticed that feature was not switched on for me.

Any idea as to whether or not custom ringtones are still present (or can be added)?

I like the quiet reference to the golden ratio in the calculator demo. The "old" iphone does not appear to be a golden rectangle...

Towards the end when he shows how to customize the homescreen, notice on the second one: The iPod Touch Contacts application. AFAIK, contacts on the iPhone are done through the Phone application.

Unless I am wrong, how did that get there?

I can't seem to find a decent answer to this question...

I current pull email into Microsoft Entourage on my mac book pro from about 7 different email accounts. This is nice because it keeps those accounts clear (so i don't need to check them individually) and allows me to sort all of my mail into folders by type/job/etc. I really want to get the new iphone...but will this work with my emails? I currently have my system set to scan my addresses every three minutes. Will iphone be able to access my email even if entourage is frequently clearing out my account?

Please help!

Why does everyone at Apple dress the same? I find that scary.

It's called a "brand". Notice that Best Buy employees also dress the same while they are at work? Or target? Or McDonalds, or anyone?

Is it just me or did they "forget" to mention that it now may support ZIP files?

Was watching the Tour and when they were showing iWork document support they had em in ZIP files and the iPhone still knew what they were.

iWork uses .zip files to compact the files you create with them. This is used to package stuff like images, etc. along with the file rather than just embed it. If you create a document in pages and save it, it will be saved as Document.pages.zip rather than just .pages. Would be nice if the attachment viewer didn't show this ".zip" extension for the purpose of ease of use...

It looks like it will only support iWork-specific ZIPs. Would be interesting if it did support others though...

Haha his hands are so incredibly distracting. I missed most of what he said in the first minute because I was mimicking his motions. Bounce out one-two-three-four, and together, then bounce one-two-three...

Can someone tell me what Apple has against Tasks? The Exchange bit of that video shows Calendars, Contacts & Mail. I know you can't do Notes with ActiveSync and that is bad enough, but come on! Tasks are useful!!
